SOLID ROLE FOR MAUREEN McCORMICK
She's very convincing here, worthy of an Emmy nod, playing a troubled teen, mixed up with drugs and more terrible luck of witnessing a murder. Now what? She goes into hiding, and what a hide and seek game, hence the title. Her concerned mom, played by Claudette Nevins, hires Harry to track her down as the bad guys are that close to knocking her off. Nevins has a more sympathetic role here, at her best (in cop shows) playing ladies with a shady past.
We also get a glimpse of future tv star Lani O'Grady, about a year before EIGHT IS ENOUGH. As usual, Harry is up against an assortment of desperate characters, and Trench (Anthony Zerbe) remains the proverbial thorn in his side. To a degree, Trench was a spin-off of Malcolm (Ward Wood) on MANNIX, only more insulting.
Observation; Had Farrah Fawcett not been cast as Harry's next door neighbor, Maureen would have been a great choice. And I'll bet Warner Brothers was thinking that also. She's a natural, much like Jodie Foster.
Written and directed and Richard Lang, best friends with David Janssen, who also headed KUNG FU.
Recommended for us Brady Bunch fans too. SEASON 1 EPISODE 22 remastered Warner Brothers dvd box set. Stylish blue cover for collectors. Thanks to METV for the memories.

- TriviaThe "Gotterdammerung" life preserver--seen in the final scene hanging on Orwell's cabin wall--was a prop originally seen adorning the wall of the seedy bar in "The Confetti People (1975)" where Harry got slugged by a drunken artist.
- Quotes
Lt. K.C. Trench: [Harry goes to get in the car with Trench and Roberts] Oh, no, Orwell. Carrying a passenger is strictly against the rules.
Harry Orwell: I didn't know you played by the rules.
Lt. K.C. Trench: You are a civilian, Orwell. Possibly a model civilian, but still a civilian. And if anything goes wrong it's me they hang out to dry. Go back to your beach, Orwell. Pout in familiar surroundings.
Harry Orwell: [voiceover] Once when I was a little kid I built a castle out of some old soda pop bottles. Freddy was a mean kid who lived up the block. He came by and he knocked over my castle. Lt. Trench reminds me of Freddy.
