    ... is also the first.

Better forget about this one. It seems that jokes and Paladin do not go well together - The Englishman, another episode built around a joke equally stupid to the one in the present episode, is also quite weak. Judd's character could have been original and interesting, but the story is slightly too absurd to make us believe in him. Other characters are fairly lame, especially Gil the husband - if jealousy makes a fool of you, he certainly is the king of it. One has to wait for the very last replica to get the only laugh of the episode, which means much too little, much too late.

Reunited and it feels so good: Richard Boone (Paladin) reunited with Stuart Whitman (Gil Borden) and Jean Allison (Nora Borden) in A Hard Road to Vengeance (1973), an episode of Boone's 1972-74 Western series Hec Ramsey (1972).
    • Goofs
In the last scene, after the fight in the barn, Paladin's usual impeccable mustache is missing its upward curl on the left-hand side.
    • Quotes

Gil Borden: Hey, what do you think you're doing, Mister?

Paladin: Oh, I was just trying to organise this, the, ah, personal...

Gil Borden: Well, this is my wife's petticoat.

Paladin: I recognized it. It's Belgian lace and it's very pretty.

Gil Borden: I don't like your sense of humor, Mister
