    Almost Like a Holiday

A dramatic outing for Norman Wisdom. He plays Vincent Parkin who is mugged one night as he visits Jersey and loses all his holiday money.

Vincent claims to be a war hero, a former chauffeur for the Queen and his plight attracts a lot of sympathy and a fundraiser is started for him.

Jim Bergerac is concerned when Vincent refuses to point to his mugger at a police lineup. Pretty soon his tall stories start to fall apart.

Although he did get a medal in the war. He broke into a German safe which stored medicine that the other prisoners of war badly needed.

Jim realizes that Vincent's here in Jersey because of his skills in breaking into a German safe.

Jersey is just the kind of place where the queen's equerry would retire to. Something that leads to Vincent's unravelling.

Wisdom fits the bill as someone who gets carried away with the press attention and his overblown stories.
