    One of the BEST

Ms DeCamp was the catalyst for one of the BEST episodes of the series. Well done ! For the writers , and logistics team they went to 110% with the props. Ms. MacGibbon is the best fall guy ever. This cast played it perfectly !

    THE HISTORICAL CLAMPETTS?

First off, see this for Rosemary DeCamp, everyone's favorite tv mom, Marlo Thomas' mom on THAT GIRL and grandma (who drives a Corvette!) on the PARTRIDGE FAMILY. She was so cool.

Rosemary plays the distinguished Mrs. Smith Standish, related to pioneer colonist Myles Standish. She happens to drop in on snooty Mrs. Drysdale -- who has a secret plan. She thinks her meeting the hillbilly Clampetts will get them kicked out of Beverly Hills. But what if Mrs. Standish admires them?

This would become a familiar plot, thanks to Paul Henning. Lots of underhanded stuff cooked up by Mrs. Drysdale that would blow up in her face. Harriett MacGibbon has never been more funnier, a terrific character actress. And as the story goes, it seems Jed has some ties to history. Why not throw that in too, right?

I really think Paul Henning made this up as he went along, and it's pure genius. I agree with the last reviewer, one of the BEST episodes of the first season. Thank you to director Richard Whorf, a series pioneer.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 25 remastered black and white CBS dvd box set. According to Amazons, seasons 6 through 9 are expected to be released bu 2027. Thanks much to METV for running every single classic episode, 1962-71.

    The Family Tree

Pearl Bodine believes that the Clampetts needs to go upmarket now they are living in Beverly Hills. They need to mingle with high society.

Mrs Drysdale on the other hand wants the Clampetts out of Beverly Hills for good. They let down the neighbourhood despite Milton Drysdale pleading that Jed Clampett is the biggest depositor at the bank.

With the impending arrival of Mrs Smith-Standish, the head of the first family historical society. Mrs Drysdale is insistent that she would be put off by the riff raff that are the Clampetts.

It turns out that Mrs Smith-Standish ends up at the Clampett's home. She is enchanted with all the old ornaments in their house such as a spinning loom. The stories behind all the items.

She deduces that Jed is a descendant of one of the first settlers. It all leaves Mrs Smith-Standish in a lather.

Well Jethro has still not figured out that the doorbell is making that sound. It was good to see all the ornamental stuff having a purpose. It churned out well for the Clampetts at the end.

    Side-Splitting Family Tree

Outstanding episode with the 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' mother Rosemary DeCamp as Mrs. Smith Standish the head of the 'first family Historical Society'. Of course she's going to be appalled by the Clampett's primitive living conditions, or is she? Mrs. Drysdale is hoping this will be the nail in the coffin for finally getting rid of the Clampetts. Hubby (Raymond Bailey) may be in for a pleasant surprise. Granny (Irene Ryan) is in rare form and Buddy Ebsen is in for the shock of his life finding out who his ancestors are. For anyone who loves the Clampetts or great comedy, this episode is a must-see.

Jed Clampett: [Greeting Mrs. Drysdale who has shown up unexpectedly] Well, howdy there, Mrs. Drysdale, sure is a nice surprise to have you come visit. Pearl and me were just talking about you this morning. Pearl's got a hankering to getting into society, and I said, well I hear tell when it comes to society, Mrs. Drysdale is one of the first hogs to the trough!
