darrin hates magic but in a magical setting

Love the change in background and setting for the episode. They're away from the office. Yes darrin still hates magic and yet gives in when it serves to help him out (yawn). I love the ambiance, the storm, the change in scenerary, the transformation.

It gives a peak into how people handled being stranded in a tole so different, e.g., having to call for road information - knowing to call for road information.

Beautiful scenery and forest and background. Nice fireplace. Cabin getaway decor. It's - a comforting episode where sam and Darren get to get away. Kinda.

The episode is broken up nicely when it cuts back to the story line of his boss. Unexpected guests adds much needed suspense in an otherwise uneventful episode.

The juxtaposition of horrid travel vs perfect travel is met perfectly.

Darrin...

It's episodes like this one where Darrin gets on my nerves... I don't quite understand his intense hatred of magic, and in this episode it feels truly ridiculous. I know its there for conflict but it still feels, at least to modern sensibilities, a bit ridiculous.

I Noticed a goof in the show

When "Derwood" and Sam reach the cabin. A thunderstorm happens. BUT .. Did you realize when they left their 1965 Chevy Corvair, the front windows were down all the way ... With the storm, their car would have filled up with water .... HAHHAHAHA

Trivia
The sofa in the "new" interior of the cabin is the same one which appears in the Stephens home beginning in season three.

Goofs
When Sam and Darrin arrive at the cabin, they leave the windows down in their car. Then, a thunderstorm brings down buckets of rain. The next morning, Sam and Darrin go off in their car - windows still down - and no mention of the water in the car from the storm.
