MAKEOVER TIME FOR JAN...
Eve Plumb is super in this episode, you really feel sorry for her because she goes through a TON of rejection. It all starts out with a ballet recital, which goes wrong, so she applies for everything else, and with a lot of confidence boosting from the guys.
I agree with Jimmy, BEST scene is the school play audition. In fact, any episode with an amateur school play usually turns into a disaster. According to notes, the actor playing opposite Jan was Christopher Knight's actual stand-in. His fake bald head is a gas, and looks like the same piece used by Chris Knight in the famous Benedict Arnold episode.
George Tyne directed, long time director for MASH, LOVE BOAT and the BOB NEWHART SHOW, many others.
Jan's teacher, Miss Clairette, is played by Judy Landon, who had a long career and appeared in the classic film, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN.
Dedicated to us middle sister Jan fans, and Eve looks beautiful as ever. SEASON 5 EPISODE 10 remastered color ABC/Paramount.
No Talent Jan
A weaker Jan episode, it would have worked better in the early years. Jan is once again the angst ridden teen and nothing goes right for her. Marcia and even Cindy are better at ballet than she is. There are many scenes where the other kids try to help Jan's confidence by letting her win everything, something which has also been better done before. The funniest scene is a disastrous audition Jan has for a play.

- Quotes
Cindy Brady: Hi! Anybody seen Jan?
Carol Brady: She went to the library, honey. Why?
Cindy Brady: Oh, I just thought I'd let her beat me at checkers.
Mike Brady: Why do you want to do that?
Cindy Brady: To give her confidence. To make her think she's good at something. That's what we've been doing.
Carol Brady: How long do you and your brothers and sisters plan to keep losing to Jan?
Cindy Brady: I don't know. A couple months. I'll ask Greg.
