Way better than the previous two ep

" Go fish" is a sweet little episode of Buffy, not one to remember , not one to skip, just a solid funny episode.

Once more Xander save the life of Buffy, not Angel, and yet Buffy love Angel not Xander, how unfair this is, and sad for her, she could have been so happy with Xander.

On the other hand, this episode offer a great scene with Cordelia, where we can see their relashionship might bé more serious than expected. There is still the suspence to know with who Xander will end up, Buffy Willow or Cordelia or someone new ?

I dont understand some reviews calling this episode beeing like the X files, guys wake up the show IS like the X files since the beggining, standalone about a different Supernatural event every weeks, and a main story on the other hand ( for x files aliens, for Buffy vampires) smae kind of show, this episode does not look more like the X files than 10/15 from Season 1 and 2 and im sure all the others seasons.

Also its kind of an insult to the X files to compare it to this Buffy épisode, The X files is a masterpiece of a show, with nearly every épisodes beeing better than the best of the buffy ep.

Now I will get the name that I slept with the whole swimming team

Great episode one of my favorites I don't understand why is this low score in the third and second seasons are most of Buffy's best episodes. The episode has a comedy tension and dynamics what more.

    Okay episode.

This episode is nothing special, I would probably rate it a 6 but Willow's line "really? Me? I'll crack him like an egg" makes the whole episode. It's the little things :)

Not to be carelessly waved off

Sunnydale is a town with a school sitting on something that is basically both a sealed portal to Hell and a magnet for all sorts of evil creatures. Does a thing like that need attention? It does. And there is this system in place for humanity to secretly deal with such stuff. The system is old and goes like this. In every generation there is a girl destined to stand against the forces of darkness, a "slayer". She has two things to help her. First, physical strength you wouldn't expect from someone her size, or from any human, for that matter. Second, an experienced "watcher" meant to act as her teacher, one that does the research, not the fighting. Should a slayer be killed, another one will show up as fast as possible. With her life instantaneously and drastically altered. That's how Buffy Summers became the slayer. And there is something she has that makes her different from any other slayer. Not only does she have the strength and a watcher, she also has friends. And they prove vital. Now, with the second season drawing to an end, with the main villains having attempted something huge more than once already, and with an apparent another attempt just around the corner, something distracts Buffy and her company from the big baddies. They have been dealt with more than once and will be again. For now, though, they are in the shadow, plotting and preparing. But that does not mean the good guys can rest. In "Go Fish", the heroes face an unknown danger. But even so, the general thread of the season and the show thus far is solid. Not only is it not damaged, but used in a way that helps our heroes do their job.

The episode can be both scary and funny exactly at the right moments. The monster effects are satisfying. The creatures themselves prove more difficult to deal with than vampires. The importance of friendship and team work is once again pointed out. What else is pointed out and should be brought up here is how what you see is not necessarily the truth. If you're witness to an event, be careful. That event may be the result of a chain of other events resulting in you misunderstanding it all. Be careful and scientific! Isn't that what school is supposed to teach all of us?

    Black Lagoon After School Special

With a smile, wink, and nod to a classic horror creature, the Buffy version here does provide a few twists with explanation. Although many of the ideas seem short on refinement as well as execution, solid writing still prevails. Creatures were actually alright by me, with a faithful rendition to the original. A little re-hash as far as the after-school theme which reminded me a little of the earlier frat party.

Cordelia got the best one-liner joke and surprisingly endearing scene when Xander appeared to be a monster. Unlike Buffy, Cordelia was not about to let her boyfriend's change deter her perseverance in making a relationship work. Admirable, even if it were impossible. Xander too was a fun character to watch in this episode. Entertaining, off-beat, I'm fine with this episode as long as it didn't cause the series to go unfinished.

    • Quotes

Willow Rosenberg: So we're lookin' for a beastie.

Rupert Giles: That, uh, eats humans whole... Except for the skin.

Buffy Summers: This doesn't make any sense.

Xander Harris: Yeah, the skin's the best part.

Buffy Summers: Any demons with high cholesterol?

[Giles looks at her thoroughly un-amused]

Buffy Summers: You're gonna think about that later, mister, and you're gonna laugh.
