Nice People Die at Home

This one is a nice character piece for Callan. He is back in service and has a chance to go after a Russian spy called Belukov. Callan has unfinished business with him.

Callan first has to impersonate a Russian operative in London. The real one was captured by the security service and handicapped by Meres's golf practice.

Callan is to contact two low level spies operating out of a pet shop in London. They are a father and daughter team. Their mission is about to end and they hope to go on a holiday and then get back to Russia. Little knowing that Belukov plans to arrange an accident for them.

Callan gets to like them, he thinks they are decent people and wishes them to be safe. It is Belukov that Callan has issues with.

Another episode where Callan shows his steely resolve. He might be a killer but he also wants to do the right thing.

Trivia
Made as part of the first series and held over to the second. Pushed back again when Ronald Radd was unable to reprise his role as "Hunter" for the whole of the second series, with immediately preceding episode "The Worst Soldier I Ever Saw (1969)" written and produced later and then transmitted before it, in order to reintroduce the character to the series.
