    Cliff's Romantic Moment

It's Halloween at Cheers, and Florida-obsessed Cliff has taken the opportunity to dress up as his hero, Ponce De Leon. Filled with courage at being someone else, Cliff charms a shy woman in costume as Tinkerbell. The gang encourage Cliffie, who gets cold feet at trying to meet her the day after. Meanwhile Sam and Diane go to a Boston Pops concert to see if they can see each other with no sexual tension.

This is a sweet episode with a lot of funny moments. The gang's costumes fit their personalities, right down to Norm's not-really-trying Nixon mask. Coach's bizarre story about Duke Roberts has a perfect punchline (" Do you think he'd like to meet Cliffie?") And Frasier's attempt to introduce a little highbrow content by reciting the Raven ("That was POE") is a cute little gag.

(Note: this is one case where syndication has replaced a classic song - "Moon River" - with sappy generic music. Usually this can be ignored, but this is a particularly egregious example)

    Fountain of Youth

Cliff is hard to take at times, but here he becomes a bit more attractive. When Cheers has a Halloween costume party, Cliff dresses as Ponce de Leon and meets a woman who is taken with him. They bring the idea of shyness to a new level. But the costumes allow them to have a hiding place and that sets up the eventual meeting of the two.

    • Quotes

Cliff Clavin: Say, would you to go in the back and maybe, play some pool? Or as they say in Tallahassee, 'shoot some pocket billiards?'

Tinker Bell: I'd love to, Mr Leon.

Cliff Clavin: Oh please, call me Ponce.

Tinker Bell: [taking her beer, and leading the way to the pool room in the back of the bar] It looks like you're out to conquer new territory, Ponce.

Cliff Clavin: [leaning against the bar after hearing her last words] Holy, God!
