    Unforgettable

Woody's dad decides that Boston and Boston's influences are too much for Woody and decides he needs to return to Indiana. So Diane believes a film, showing what a wonderful place Boston and Cheers are will sway the father. There are two films. One is done by Sam and Norm. The other is a reedit done by Diane. What is produced is amazing in the most fractured way. This is the high point of this series here in the fifth season.

"Would you tell Fellini 'Shoot the damn film?'"

So far we've seen Diane Chambers: Caricaturist, Novelist, Actress, Ghostwriter, Mime, Poetess, and Dancer. Now we meet Diane Chambers: Auteur du Cinema.

Woody's family is convinced that Boston is a hellhole and wants him to come home to Indiana. The gang decides that the best way to change the Boyds' minds is to record Woody's everyday life for posterity.

The show's cast and crew have a lot of fun skewering bad filmmaking, starting with the inept home movie shot by the gang and ending with Diane's director's cut. As a student of the cinema Diane would know that the true art to film is in the editing, and boy, is there a lot of that.

Of course the audience knows Woody isn't going anywhere, but it turns out it's an unlikely hero who saves the day. But there's a lot here to laugh at, from the normally sassy Carla clamming up on camera to the film that is Pure Diane Chambers.
