    Mean-spirited.

Maybe I've watched too many episodes of MWC in a row, but I'm not finding the show as funny as it used to be. The second part of this Season 6 opener isn't any better than the first half, and is actually quite upsetting in its cruelty. The Bundys have never shown much in the way of compassion or love for each other but the way they act here is reprehensible...

Upset at the prospect of becoming a father for the third time, Al decides to run away to Los Angeles, abandoning his pregnant wife and kids. At the bus depot (which doubles as a strip bar), Al meets Jefferson, who is also thinking of leaving his wife Marcy, who is also pregnant. Not only are the men in this episode shown to be deplorable, but Peggy isn't much better. When Al decides to return home, he and Peggy talk about Kelly and Bud, unaware that their kids are eavesdropping on an intercom: "What a pair of losers", they say, laughing. It's heartbreaking to see Kelly and Bud listening in on their uncaring parents.
