    The best of season 5

This episode is the best, i think of season five's Only fools and Horses. Rodders has to write a story and make a film and Del boy decides to help him in every way he can, even if Rodney doesn't want that help! Del has this WONDERFUL idea of a rhino and a beautiful zoo keeper(I wont go any further!).

Meanwhile Boyce and Marline still cant have a baby and Boyce's darkest secret is revealed. Unfortunately its Del who finds out so soon everyone knows. Uncle Albert is very good in this episode and made me laugh a lot. Del boy is at his nosey, cheeky and interfering self. I cant believe Mikey Pearce isn't shown in every episode. Here he is like a younger Del. And thankfully he has a big part in this one. The ending is a bit poor and is hard to understand. But I got it about half way through the credits.

    Video Nasty

This for me is the weakest episode of Series five and like a few of the 30 min instalments starts well but then runs out of steam. Knowing as we do that John Sullivan wrote far more material than was needed perhaps there is a longer cut of this somewhere that improves the quality somewhat.

John Sullivan on three occasions across the 'Only Fools' world have one of the character try and write a film, and other than the 'Rock and Chips' effort, none of them really worked for me.

So overall, this is a decent episode that unfortunately despite the best efforts of all involved, never really develops into being much better than that.

    Bang goes another dream

Video Nasty is a good episode that works very well if you have an interest in the subject matter.

It is essentially a one-joke story. Rodney has another dream threatened by Del Boy's capitalism. The way it unfolds is very funny in parts, but loses focus with the involvement of so many characters.

My favourite aspect is the cynicism associated with the financing of an art project for the community. It is very plausible that putting significant resources in the hands of certain individuals will lead to exploitation and chaos. In its own silly way it probably reflects a film industry rife with studio interference, product placement, nepotism, sexual exploitation, and so many projects that end up a shadow of their original artistic concept.

As always the actors are excellent. In this case Nicholas Lyndhurst stands out showing varying degrees of exasperation as the situation goes from bad to worse.

This one contains more fertility jokes aimed at the characters Boycie and Marlene. Which for me wears thin quickly.

    Beware the nocturnal, vampire rhinoceros.

Rodney is put in charge of a £10,000 budget to make a film, Rodney dreams of stardom, but Del and Mickey Pearce see it as an opportunity to make a few quid. Boycie and Marlene go for tests to work out why she can't get pregnant.

I really have enjoyed Rewatching series five, and whilst it's perhaps not the best overall, it has some real highlights, building towards the magical sixth series.

Very, very funny, loaded with amusing moments, the best scenes, the porno and Del Boy's story about the vampire rhinoceros, both aspects are side splitting.

The faces Nicholas Lyndhurst pulls throughout are joyous, so funny.

We get to hear about The Driscoll Brothers, they'd appear very soon.

    Very funny.

    8/10.

There's a Rhino Loose in the City!

Del explaining his film idea to Rodney and Albert is the best scene in the entire fifth series if you ask me. The episode as a whole starts off pretty good: sometimes the pub banter in some of them can be pretty dull but it's all good here. As the episode unfolds it kind of runs out of steam.

I would have given it a 5 overall but that Rhino loose in the city scene really is a good giggle and ramps it up.
