- Howard and Joanne Sharp are expecting a baby and are considering the possibility of black-market genetic enhancement which will result in a perfect baby or a 1 in 10,000 of creating a monster. But what do their neighbors keep in the basement?
- Joanne and Howard Sharp want to have the perfect baby. Not only healthy, but also to have above average intelligence and good looks. They hire John Arkelian to genetically engineer that perfect child for them. The procedure is not foolproof, however, and mutant children are known to exist. Their doctor strongly advises against the procedure, telling them that what they are considering is illegal and carries a five year prison sentence. Their friends and neighbors, the Blakes, lost a child recently and they agree not to tell them what they're planning. The Blakes have a secret too, however.—garykmcd
- A married couple contemplates the future of their unborn child. Workplace competition with a generation of presumably "enhanced" coworkers convinces the husband to genetically engineer his progeny. A form of gene rejection twists their neighbor's child -- a genetically enhanced kid -- into a deformed and violent monster, leaving the married couple frightened for their unborn child.
