Visitation

The episode ends with a tribute to Harry Ford, he was a New York City firefighter who also worked part-time constructing sets for movies and TV series, including Oz. Ford died in the line of duty on June 17, 2001 while fighting a fire at a hardware store in Astoria, Queens.

Jeremiah Cloutier's burns were not nearly healed enough for him to be transferred out of the burn unit. The flesh is still bright red and the incisions on his skin grafts have barely begun to heal, making him at high risk for infection. A patient isn't released from the burn unit until all of their open wounds have healed as burn units are specifically equipped, and the staff specially trained, to reduce the chance of infection. A prison hospital is about the least sanitary medical environment possible.
