    An unusual weak script

Gabe Fenway is a sharecropper that is spending more time raising horses than worrying about the crops on the land. He needs the crops in order to pay off Jake Preston for the option of buying the land. And with a charity horse race coming up, Gabe is placing his hopes on winning the race and paying off the debt on the land so that it can finally be a landowner.

However, Gabe is pushed into a bet by Preston that says if Gabe does not win he loses the crops which will virtually lose the land. Everyone believes that Gabe is a natural to win the race until Mark enters his horse, Blueboy, and now Preston bets a load of money on Mark to win. Jake Preston is going to make sure, at any cost, that his bet comes through.

For whatever reason, this episode did not seem to hold the viewers attention like other shows from the series. The ending seemed almost too quick and highly unbelievable. This episode just did not have the same spark that makes the series so enjoyable.

The race clips are stock footage. The banners read that the race is for "Grass Rent Day" (when the story is about a "charity" race).
    • Crazy credits
Chuck Connors breaks the 4th wall in the opening credits after he shoots his rifle and then stares into the camera.
