    Predatory Ice Cream Man

Bobbi, a young nursing student is raped but is afraid to press charges. The rapist is an ice cream truck driver who threatens her with harassing phone calls.

One of the best of Season 2. The scene where Ryker interrogates Bobbi about the attack is disturbing to this day. Tannis J Montgomery gives an excellent performance as Bobbi. So does Mark Slade as the rapist, he previously played another baby faced psycho in Season 1. He would return to the series in a later episode "Cliffy" where he finally got to play a good guy.

Lt. Ryker: [Lt Ryker and Officers Mike Danko, Terry Webster and Willie Gillis are inside the police precinct interrogation room. Lt Ryker has just finished a grueling interview of Ms Hallicent, a young nurse who was giving a statement after she was raped. Ms. Hallicent is leaving the room with Jill and Mike Danko. Willie is standing near them; Terry and Lt Ryker are seated. Willie closed the door behind them] Don't give me any of your moral outrage. I've got enough with my own right now.

[Lt Ryker puts his hands behind his head and leans back in his chair]

Lt. Ryker: 300 cases of rape reported to this precinct alone in a single year. Less than 50 of them are ever brought to trial. More than half of that number are dismissed somewhere along the line for a hundred different reasons.

Officer Willie Gillis: [Willie is staring in disbelief at Lt Ryker] Lt, if the way you were questioning her is any sample of what she can expect, I wouldn't blame her for just... walking away from the whole thing.

Lt. Ryker: [Lt Ryker starts gesturing to emphasize his point] My questions are not half as embarrassing and graphic and as intimate as the ones the defense attorney is gonna ask, Officer Gillis. He's will try to prove that his client is an innocent man and Ms. Hallicent is the guilty party. He will pull out, and he will distort every incident in her past he can in order to soil her image in that courtroom. Do you understand what I'm saying?

Officer Terry Webster: [Terry, still seated, has been silent up to this point. He finally speaks up, answering Lt Ryker with a flat, serious voice] Yeah. What you're saying is that... a woman doesn't stand much of a chance... with a rapist, or the law.

Lt. Ryker: [Lt Ryker waves his hand in dismissal] All right. You've made your points. Now, get out of here, the two of you.

[Terry and Willie exit the room]
