Pleshette thanks s poorly cast here and the continued unity and plausibility are way off.
Shame. It's as if they k re the series was winding up and didn't care.
In this day and age seeing a woman behave like this on TV is not that strange but seeing a woman get this angry and violent on TV back then in 1968...I wonder how viewers reacted to it back then?
This is sort of a sister show to last week's hour, The Life Seekers, as once again we have an "invader" who does not behave like his/her pals.
This episode is not to be confused with season one's The Mutation which also had Pleshette playing an "invader" who does not play ball with her friends.
Both The Pursued and The Mutation are outstanding hours.
Director William Hale worked well with her. I agree with the last reviewer, Suzanne outdoes herself, playing an alien (Anne) on the run from her contemporaries, part of a botched experiment. Scientists gave her emotional characteristics, far more extreme though, making her violent and dangerous. In a way, a re-working of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, only the aliens showed absolutely no emotion. Cleverly written by Don Brinkley, who wrote four other episodes.
David nevertheless takes a chance with Anne, hoping she will finally be his proof of the Invaders and their plan to conquer Earth. Would have made an intriguing final episode with more development, comparable to David Janssen's vindication in THE FUGITIVE, which this show was compared to in many distinct ways.
The supporting cast is impressive. Veteran actor Will Geer plays one of the sheriffs out to get Anne, also Dana Elcar as the law. Kent Smith, always distinguished, plays Scoville. Barry Williams appears in a very early and dramatic role. Before the BRADY BUNCH, he had some impressive parts. This is one of them.
Another fine job by William Hale, who went on to direct THE FBI and STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO for Quinn Martin.
Never ever to forget the camp opening credits -- the colors! -- still crazy after all these years. SEASON 2 EPISODE 25 remastered dvd box set. Classic green cover, featuring Roy Thinnes. 7 dvds.
Released 2009.

- TriviaSuzanne Pleshette here in the next-to-last episode plays an alien mutant on the run from her fellow aliens because they are trying to kill her due to her mutant defect. She was in one of the first episodes (The Mutation (1967)) where she played a mutant alien on the run from her fellow aliens because she has a mutant defect.
- GoofsAt the end of Act III Corwin calls his alien compatriots and tell them to look for David's helicopter which is going *from* Virginia. This doesn't make sense since they are currently in Massachusetts. Presumably he was supposed to say going *to* Virginia. But that raises another question: how did he know where they were going. While he knew they ultimately wanted to reach Washington, D.C., they could have been headed to Maryland or Delaware.
