    Shifty character

On the way back to Laredo after an assignment a rather shifty character played by Carl Ballantine kind of attaches himself to the Rangers. He has good reason for wanting their protection, he's carrying a suitcase full of money, $25,000.00 worth. He kind of bonds with Claude Akins making his last appearance as guest Ranger Cotton Buckmeister. And when he is killed by people after him he gives him a nursery rhyme riddle to tell his niece Marilyn Erskine who is coming to Laredo to meet Ballantine.

Of course there's a lot more to Ballantine than met the eye. And Ms. Erskine who makes some moves on Akins has even more layers to her.

Wait till you hear what was in the suitcase and what Ballantine left behind which is what Erskine and the people who killed Ballantine really wanted.

Poor Akins, his heart was broken, but not for long.
