    Such bitchy girls.

I've wondered for some time why john-boy gets involved with such bitchy women. Besides daisy and Jenny, the rest of them deserved to be told to hit the road. The one in this episode was the worst.

    Family Fun

This show is great for the entire family. The Waltons is based on the real life of Earl Hamner, writer of the show. I live only 50 minutes from Schuyler, the home of Earl Hamner and his family. It is known, of course, as The Walton Mountain.

I do recommend people to visit as it is part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, at the parkway which has beautiful sceneries and just a nice drive. Unfortunately Ike s store has burned down and is no longer there.

I love this show so much. It just warms the heart of many and make you wish you grew up with them. I especially love grandma and grandma. ^_^ As a fellow Virginian of the Waltons, I rate this show a 10.

Last note, those kids sure are some nosey kids. Lol!

Rain In Spain Falls Too Far Away

For a John Boy meets a messed up girl episode this isn't bad. Doesn't provide in depth analysis of Spanish Civil War. Story succeeds in showing the futility of longing for or owning material possessions. Elizabeth gets a good back story in this one.

    • Trivia
The opening scene takes place at the same location as the opening scene of "The Andy Griffith Show" where Opie throws the rock into the pond.
    • Goofs
While dinning with "Selena" and her father John Boy is having trouble trying to figure out how to eat his lobster. In fact he remarks "aren't there times when you just have to admit your licked" and gives up trying to eat it and asks for rolls. But in a previous episode Season 2, episode 1, he seems to have no trouble dismantling one when dinning with the elderly lady "Maggie". Or at least that is what a close up shot of his dinner plate shows.

Narrator: [narration as John 'John Boy' Walton, Jr. reading from his journal] Though the early years of the Depression were difficult on Waltons Mountain, we still felt a sense of security in our isolation from a troubled world. The building turmoil of the times, it seemed, lay beyond the mountains and across a distant ocean. Then, in 1936, we became aware of Hitler in Germany and Mussolini in Italy. A war was being fought in Spain. Historic events; yet all of them were overshadowed by my acquisition of an old printing press and the prospect of publishing my own small-town newspaper.
