    Wrestling

Despite a less than stellar first date. Malcolm and Brenda meet again at the pub.

Brenda gets Malcolm to do a spot of people watching. She gets him to describe what kind of person Pamela could be neglecting to mention that she is her sister.

Malcolm describes Pamela as a wrestler with her parents being rugby players.

They both go out for an Indian, even though Malcolm does not like spicy food and his mum has made casserole at home.

The episode introduces Malcolm's mother who fusses over him. You see Malcolm working at the clothes shop and his flash colleague Terry who is from London.

It is still an uneasy relationship between the shy and nervy Malcolm and the more confident and streetwise Brenda.

There were a few laughs here but nothing rip roaring funny.

    Enter the wrestler.

Brenda gives Malcolm another chance, and the pair head to an Indian Restaurant, Malcolm also meets Brenda's sister Pamela, he doesn't give a great first impression.

If the first episode was about setting up Malcolm and Brenda, this second one introduces the peripherals as it were, the extras. Pamela is brought on, introduced to Malcolm in a very funny scene, and Malcolm's wonderful, domineering mother is also brought in.

I enjoyed this more than the first episode, I thought it was funny, the sarcastic tone carries on really well, but the characters are are so rounded, so likeable, just love Patsy Byrne, she's class.

Best scene had to be Malcolm's watching of Pamela, it was actually very funny.

It's definitely another 1980's will they or won't they sitcom, but it is different, they feel very real somehow, they're not over the top or fake, they feel like real, ordinary people.

    Enjoyed very much, 8/10.
