Unworthy to be in the West Wing canon.

I love the West Wing, even though it went down downhill a bit when Aaron Sorkin left after season four. But this episode, with its coy attempt to show us how the WW staffers function behind-the-scenes via this silly documentary device, is preposterous. It's really unwatchable! I cringed constantly. I want to see these characters acting like we normally see them in an episode, not in this ersatz documentary, with bogus gorilla camera angles, and surreptitiously recorded conversations. This is just such an awful idea for an episode.

Just skip this episode and keep watching. The rest of the series is much better.

    • Trivia
In this episode several characters who work in the Press Office are introduced, but never seen again. In addition, during the Senior Staff meeting, several additional people are in Leo's office who are not normally present for that meeting.
    • Goofs
At the end of the teaser, the documentary narrator says "Tonight we go behind the podium" as CJ takes her place in the press room. This is an extremely common mistake. The podium is the platform on which a speaker such as CJ stands. The thing they stand *behind* is a lectern.

C.J. Cregg: One of the hardest things to learn: There are so many true crises, so many lurking situations that could be dangerous for the President, its hard not to get caught up in the adrenaline and make everything lethal. It's more than picking your battles, marshaling your energy. It's about grace under fire. All war metaphors. I guess that's it; being able to tell when its a matter of life or death.
