I rented this movie, not expecting all that much, although I am a big fan of Bob Odenkirk's work. But frankly, the whole family laughed their asses off, popcorn and dead bird definitely being a highlight, with the sky banner scene near the end being a close runner-up. This is pure comedy, close to Dumb and Dumber territory, but without the standard movie heist/love interest subplots that Hollywood puts into comedies like this to get "normal people" to watch them. This is the rare comedy that doesn't compromise on its mission, which accounts for the various "stupid" write-off reviews you'll see here in the user comments. This is one of those love-it-or-hate-it situations, and we're in the love-it camp. It's obviously not for everyone, and, I have to say, a lot of it was horribly lit, but if you're a fan of Mr. Show and St. Elmo's Fire, you might find this as hilarious as we did.
If you find the opening credits funny, then you will love this wonderfully absurd film. Of course, if you're not in touch with your inner idiot, you will be bewildered and ask "Why is this funny?"
Like Charlie says in Charlie And The Chocolate Factory "candy doesn't have to have a point." This is a film that revels in its oddball stupidity.
Will Arnett is funny for me simply by his facial expressions and tone of voice (I often quote "Michael. Selfish, selfish Michael" in my head.) Will Forte (who also wrote) is adept at twisting audience's expectations, the two Solomon brothers completely unaware of their actions. Kirsten Wiig, a superb comedy actress, is in a relatively straighter role here, but still pulls it off well.
In short, if you want wit and sophistication, watch Robert Altman's The Player. If you want depth and moral ambiguity, watch Fight Club or A Clockwork Orange.
If you just want to amuse yourself laughing at idiots, this film will please no end.

I don't have much background info,on Will Artnett,or Will Forte. That being said,I managed to laugh quite a bit during this film,it's wonderfully moronic, while being hilarious at the same time. The stupid things they do,like seeing each other naked in the shower,or the way they talk,we all just can't help but laugh at it. The whole idea is absolutely absurd. Having John and Dean learn to be father's,while being completely incompetent,is certainly out there. But they managed to make it quite amusing,so that was pretty impressive. It's quite crude at times, but never too crude,to where it turns the viewer off, like Bruno ,persay. The Brothers Solomon isn't gonna make your world spin,it won't become one of your favorite comedies of all time either, but it will brighten up your day,it will take a load off,and provide you with some much needed laughs.
Performances. Will Arnett&Will Forte are both very funny, very likable. They make an excellent comedy team, that we can all like. Here's hoping,we get to see them again, sometime soon. Chi McBride is a funny character actor, and here is no different. Kristen Wiig does her job well,I quite liked her, even if she was bitchy at some points. Malin Akerman had a snobby written role, but who cares when you look like she does?. Rest of the cast are fine.
Bottom Line. This is a fun little comedy. It has laughs, spirit, and most importantly it's fun to watch. Worth the watch

Yes this movie began with everything amusing oddly, its about 2 men sibling John & Dean, where their mother is passed away when they little kid and then their former military dad raised them by homeschool. Their childhood was filled by what their dad thought at their residence without connecting with other human cause the was stayed in North Pole was before.
Then they grew up they return to society but with odd manner like their comman sense side's with opposite direction thats conclude odd humourism in this movie. This movie must got average rating because some people probabbly feel annoyance by this two main character, by me im feel slight odd but im enjoyed some of their funny scenes.
They found out their father in the Coma, then Doctor said about their father wishes dream to have a first grandchildren, they with.motivation and passionate about their father will, they worked hard to make the dream come true, started odd and clean soul journey of two uncomman senses brother to achieve their Dad dream. I thought this movie is just simple minded emptyness without good ending, im wrong, im cried for the climax scenes, give movie of chance and yeah the brother smile alot like that lately horror movie smile, i think they was the first invented the unnessary smile before the smile horror movie lol.

I had rather low expectations for this movie based on the IMDb rating. I was more than pleasantly surprised. This movie was extremely funny but does require an outside-the-box sense of humor.
I rarely watch a movie twice in a row (I think Finding Nemo or O Brother Where Art Thou was the last time), but I could not help seeing this one a second time. In fact, I'm getting so excited as I write this review that I may go watch it again.
Before you decide to watch this movie, realize that your enjoyment of The Brothers Solomon will hinder on these qualifications: 1. You probably should already appreciate the work of Will Arnett and Will Forte. 2. You don't care at all about the quality of the plot. 3. You are willing to tolerate the fact that many components of the plot are very unrealistic.

- TriviaWill Forte had a piece of boiled okra in his mouth to create the drool during the kissing scene.
- GoofsWhen the brother's mention that they were raised in the Arctic, a line of text appears on screen that reads "0 degrees Latitude / 0 degrees Longitutde", but that is incorrect; the North Pole is at 90 degrees Latitude, while the Equator is at 0 degrees Latitude.
- Quotes
John Solomon: I literally can not wait to feel myself inside you!
Janine: Woah! The only thing you're going to feel yourself inside of is a cold Dixie cup.
Dean Solomon: Well that certainly doesn't make your vagina sound very appealing.
