    Last Days

Three years before Deep Impact and Armageddon.

The Slider arrive several days before an asteroid hits Earth. The world is in chaos as this is an alternate Earth where there are no nuclear weapons.

Professor Arturo recognises a young man called Bennish who invades a press conference and tells the scientists that a nuclear bomb could destroy the asteroid.

Arturo and Bennish work together to create a nuclear bomb. After all Arturo has the knowledge.

Rembrandt decides to go and party with the others in this doomsday scenario but discovers that the party lifestyle is not for him.

The heroics is from Professor Arturo in this episode. It is a good problem solving episode even if the science is far fetched. Quinn and Wade working out their relationship is a dull sideshow.

    The End is Nigh

The group lands on a world whose inhabitants are running around in a frenzy. They soon discover that an asteroid is headed their way in two days. The problem? They slide in three days. Rembrandt finds solace in a church, Quinn and Wade get close in his alternate's basement, and Professor Arturo helps Mr. Bennish, a hippie physicist on this world, correctly build an atom bomb to destroy the asteroid. The end is absolutely terrifying. If only Einstein had done what he did on our world! This was a great episode and really makes you think about what could have been. The group dynamic is working well so far. I especially enjoy it when they all land on the plump professor during a slide.

    Out With a Fizzle

The premise is an interesting one but they didn't do anything very imaginative with the "end of the world" concept.

The professor is the star in this one.

Loses points for me because of the stupidly forced love angle between Quinn & Wade. It's so unnecessary I have to roll my eyes every time.

    • Trivia
On Asteroid World, Albert Einstein refused to accept the moral responsibility of unleashing nuclear weaponry on world. He lied to U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, telling him that there was not enough nuclear fission in nature to create a nuclear explosion due to the Adiabatic Limit. Consequently, the United States was forced to invade Japan in 1945 and World War II lasted until 1950. Einstein's bomb prototype became a museum piece labelled "Einstein's Folly."
    • Goofs
Arturo says that the explosion of the nuke will not be visible immediately due to the delay caused by the finite speed of light and the distance between the asteroid and the earth. However, the sight of the rocket colliding with the asteroid itself is delayed by a similar period of time. A visible explosion should have followed a visible collision immediately.

Prof. Maximilian Arturo: Mr. Bennish, if we survive, I promise you this: I will dedicate my life to isolating the gene that makes you so obnoxious, and I will destroy it.
