A very funny episode, where quark goes to rescue moogie
I love Quark, though I din't alwayus love teh Frereghi episeodes. This is however a great episode. Great writing, great acting and just fun all round.
This episode was so much fun! The Ferengi, in particular Quark, have always amused me, but this one lets their greedy little light shine!! This is also the only episode of any show that I've ever given a review on. That should tell you how much I enjoyed watching this.
I wonder if someone gave a moment's thought to a spinoff. With this cast of crazy money grubbers, each with a unique personality, it may have worked, especially with a juvenile audience. Quark's mother is taken prisoner by the Dominion and he and Rom come up with a plot to rescue her, employing friends and relatives. Of course, the whole thing is ludicrous, but as a stand alone, it works pretty well.
From a cast of mediocre and cliched characters, Quark has always stood out.
When the Ferengi were introduced on TNG in the first season, they were described as being as powerful as the Federation with starships as powerful as the Enterprise. This would further suggest that they were as powerful as the Romulans or the Klingons or the Cardassians.
Since that introduction however they are now portrayed as a bunch of incompetent misers working as waiters in a Federation space station.
How did these nincompoops manage to create a galactic empire alongside the Romulans, Federation, Klingons, or Cardaddians?

- TriviaIggy Pop, as Yelgrun, can be seen frequently holding his left arm during his scenes. This is due to the fact that the night before while performing at a concert he did a stage dive and in his words, "the crowd parted like the Red Sea" causing him to hit the floor hard and he separated his left shoulder. He still managed to perform his role the next day despite his discomfort.
- GoofsAt one point, Leck refers to his people as 'Ferengis'. The correct plural term for Ferengi is still 'Ferengi'.
