Let me start by saying, if you have epilepsy, classic migraines or live in an apartment with thin walls and rules on noise, just pass this one by. Too many flashing lights and quick scene changes. Also, the dialogue is muddy and low and the music will blast you out of your chair. (Or off the couch. Or whatever.)
The acting is ok, but everyone is wasted here. It takes nearly an hour to get going. While I liked the use of contrast, it made some scenes so dark it was hard to see what was going on. This movie looks and feels like it's trying to reclaim the downtown art scene of the 1980s. It doesn't do a good job. They should have done straight up horror.
Take the advice of the one song that plays at the end. "STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY! STAY AWAY!"
A group of young adults visit the world-renowned Frightworld in preparation for the grand re-opening, but the ghost of a magical serial killer still roams the corridors of this haunted house waiting to pick them off one by one.
Well it started off with an appealing atmospheric style but sadly morphed into a rather generic, relatively bloodless slasher. (There are moments of gore but for the most part it's relegated to the beginning and ending) its a shame as if the film could've fully capitalized on the promise of the beginning we would've had a pretty memorable film on our hands.

This was a weird movie. It started out pretty good. A solid sound track behind flash images of gore and mayhem as our psychopath did his thing.
Next comes his "down fall" Here i could tell I was in for a real cheesy "B" movie. Poor acting , I mean how hard is it to hold a gun and act like a cop? These guys could not. After the death scene of our psychopath we get the opening credit and the movie starts...
From this point on it is bad acting big boobs, the occasional bucket of blood and poorly done death scenes.
That said I gave the movie a four because in spite of its flaws it did maintain a sort of creepiness that I just could not quite shake off.
I do not recommend this movie but I have to admit I have seem worse.

The movie dragged on a bit at the end and the editing wasn't great but I would say this was better than expected. Tongue in cheek horror, pretty girls, blood, guts and love scenes aplenty this was good entertainment. Nobody goes to see this movie expecting it to be Oscar worthy but if you know you're going to see a low budget horror that doesn't take itself too seriously then you will really enjoy it.
The acting wasn't superb but considering a number of the cast aren't actually actors or actresses (there is a model in there, a singer and a rapper)I think they did a damn good job. I like the story line of the serial killer Verden Fells and his strange relationship with Kat and how he tortures her mind. There are several interesting and very well done death scenes. I never thought I would say this but I hope there is a sequel!

With the exception of the sound none of the above are really criticisms for this type of no budget, (truly) independent horror film. Make up effects and gore are very good and the lead actor was effective, the lead actress although attractive needs some coaching as she was particularly poor.
The major problem with Frightworld is it's length, at 108 minutes its half an hour too long to be effective as a slasher movie, plot wise only about ten minute of the first fifty are relevant.
In places it is visually engaging and sometimes the lack of lighting works in the films favour. However when this is combined with the poor sound as is the case with most of the film large sections are difficult to watch.
This could certainly be an entertaining if unoriginal "serial killer back from the dead" movie with some judicious and ruthless editing, in its current form it plays like an unfinished rough cut.

- TriviaThe actress who played 'Susie Creamcheese' was actually the only one who did not have any alcohol during the 'drinking montage'. She drank water.
