    A decent second episode.

Part two is a slight improvement over the first episode. The story has a degree of intrigue, I like how the Doctor is incapacitated, leaving the TARDIS rudderless, the zero room is a little bit of cop out. I still feel that the acting in general is a little below par, with Davison a little overly wet, and Aynley perhaps a little over the top.

The location work is good, and I found parts of the story rather interesting, lots of tension of course caused by the TARDIS hurtling towards the explosion.

    It would get better. 6/10

    Part Two

If Part One suffered from inertia. Things should improve in Part Two. The Tardis is heading for Event One which is the creation of the Big Bang. A trap set by the Master.

The Doctor who has come round enough to realise that Tegan and Nyssa have to jettison part of the Tardis to get back on course to conventional time.

Only to find out that much of the Zero room disappeared.

To help the Doctor recover, the companions head for Castrovalva. The Doctor placed inside a cabinet from the remains of the Zero room.

Actress Janet Fielding was a critic of the second episode. What idiot sends out a woman in a forest carrying a cabinet in high heels. Then having to climb.

That's 1980s television for you. Two women carrying the cabinet while the star of the show is sleeping inside. It should never happen to a vet!

    • Trivia
The shot used in this story of the town of Castrovalva sitting on a cliffside, and the name of the settlement, was inspired by a print by M.C. Escher. Later in the serial, the collapsing world of Castrovalva takes on a distorted appearance, reminiscent of Escher's surrealist work.
    • Goofs
When assembling the Zero Cabinet from the Zero Room doors, Nyssa shouldn't have had to remove a roundel from once piece and add it to another because the other piece should have already had one! All of the doors were complete when they were still attached to the wall, with roundels intact.
    • Quotes

The Doctor: This will be simpler, of course, if you go into hover mode first, always remembering of course not to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow. The whole system is on manual now. This is where it starts to get really dangerous.
