    What Lies Beneath

It is the third episode and this version of Quatermass lacks the urgency of the previous Quatermass serials.

There is only so much of Kapp going around moping about his family one can take.

A gang of young hippies calling themselves the Planet People are also not the most inspiring. It is also difficult to believe that soldiers and thugs would just suddenly lay down arms and join them.

The early part of this episode has Quatermass rescued by a group of old people who have formed a commune in a scrap yard. They become irate when they find out that aliens might be taking young people away and not them.

There is a genuine Quatermass moment when he talks to Chuck Marshall in the USA and an old acquaintance Gurov in Russia. Quatermass has a theory that these prehistoric sites have something underneath, some kind of beacon laid down as a marker the next time the aliens visit.

There is some kind of energy force somewhere between Earth and the moon that surrounds the planet like a thin layer of skin. Its intentions are not benign as the aliens plan to harvest the people.

Rather surreal in a camp sort of way. This conversation takes place with Quatermass in the set of Britain's most popular show called Tittupy Bumpity. I think that show was Top of the Pops crossed with Animal Kwackers.

The set up at the end is all roads lead to the Wembley way and it is not even Cup Final day.
