    Selective use of stereotypes

Interesting how this show uses stereotypes selectively. We have a VERY sick mayor whose VERY worried wife didn't mind him running for re-election with his weak heart and whatnot. We have good son/bad son duo. We have love triangle(s). We even have a pampered city slick living on a farm. We have bad, BAD military contractors, bad, BAD, even worse actually, FEMA. But what about "militarization of the police"? In real life, the "Jericho" police department would probably roll out a few M2 machine guns and a couple of tanks AT LEAST. Didn't fit into this narrative, eh?

The mayor, who lay sick as a dog, suddenly reappears and angrily demands: "Who do you think is in charge here?". He then proclaims he is "the only one elected". Personally I think elected and capable is not the same thing but what do I know.

BS-du-jour: Some girl has visions of her POSSIBLE wedding. Why?

BS-du-jour 2: Protagonist's grandfather "had on him on D-day" a book called US Ranger Handbook, and "it got him from Omaha beach to Germany". HE HAD TIME TO READ BOOKS!? Boy did he have it easy! My grandfather who stormed Berlin in May 1945 said he was lucky if he had time to BREATHE between their own attacks and enemy barrages.
