Best show I've ever watched
This show changed me to my core. Comedy masterpiece. My favorite character is definitely Radasin, but I think that Zota is also underrated, regardless of his short screen time, but I don't want to spoil the show. Characters in this show have depth, emotions and feel very real, like people you know in your life. Best part is when Radasin is staring at ass of Zota's sister in law, and his casket falls off the tractor. Truly a cinematic masterpiece. Yes, people say Sopranos and Breaking Bad are best shows they have ever watched, but this hidden gem of Serbian cinematography is right here, waiting to be discovered and appreciated. I am working two jobs to support my kids and after work I watch this show to have some me time. I don't know where I would be without this show. I want my kids to learn something from this show, so they can become the best version of themselves, like Radasin, when he threw dynamite at the IRS. Amazing watch, 10/10.
OK but not more than that
Great screenplay effort and well made drama. Unfortunately the show is loaded with cliches and nationalist stereotypes. The portrayal of non-Serbs (westerners, other Yugoslavs) is blatantly stereotypical, nationalistic and unrealistic. Even the Serbs are portrayed as slaves to religious and nationalist stereotypes. The division on urban and rural is black (urban) and white (rural). Villagers are portrayed as utterly primitive which could be excused for humor but the author Rados Bajic has made it dramatic as well. The son "Radoslav" is a vehicle for various political criticism whether against "Europe" or against what is perceived modern Serbian politics. This seems rather strange when the character himself is a complete mess (two-timing father, unfinished student, unqualified immigrant - somehow he got visas and work in both Sweden and Canada, unknown source of income etc ...) which is drawn from some type of illusive Serbian medieval values and "traditions" which is rather typical of Serbian nationalism.
I felt sorry for Serbs if their doctors, police inspectors, state administrators, and judges constantly smoke, get drunk, and fight in bars though perhaps that is really true.
It is watchable but could have been better than a pretentious soap opera it has become.

Beautiful love it. It's amazing show so funny. I would love to see all over again and again and definitely I will share with everyone but people need English subtitles.

Highest rating show in Serbian history
Selo Gori a Baba Se Ceslja is an excellent show i live in Australia and first watched this show in 2008 i went on holiday in late 2008 and still regularly watch it on the internet. The main thing that make this show great is that it relates to the common person in Serbia, everyone who has ever live in the Selo (small town) can identify themselves with at least one character, and i shouldn't by any means forget the brilliant humor that this show brings out a laugh out comedy at some points yet a dramatic and tearful drama at certain points, a brilliant show and if your Serbian or not it can definitely be enjoyed by all, give it a watch and decide for yourselves for me it's terrific.
Fantastic show!
I must agree on reviews that this is really one of the best shows in Serbia! So wonderfully put together with such attention to all of the details from Serbian culture and customs. Lots of humor, fantastic actors and above all story that makes you eager to see next episode and follow the lives of Radasin (Rados Bajic) and his family and friends. Rados Bajic did such a great job in writing, directing and acting in this legendary TV show!!
