In October 1013, King Sweyn leads a fleet of Danish and Viking ships in an attempt to take London Bridge of England. Askeladd's army, hired by the army of Denmark, was among them. However, after the betrayal of Thorkell the Tall, a Viking known for his overpowering strength, London Bridge has become impregnable. Askeladd tells Thorfinn he'll reward him with a duel if he's able to kill Thorkell.

The Battle of London Bridge

Askeladd sets his sights on the heavily defended London Bridge. The worst part is that Thorkell himself is defending the bridge despite being a Dane. Askeladd is only with the Danes since he believes they&#39;ll be the victor, and they want a part of the spoils of the winner. Askeladd asks Thorfinn to bring him Thorkell&#39;s head. Thorfinn won&#39;t do it unless he rewards him with a duel. Askeladd agrees to a duel making fun of his persistence along with his father&#39;s. Floki and his Jomvikings go to the bridge to talk with Thorkell. Floki tells him that King Sweyn demands his surrender. Thorkell makes his intentions clear. He joined with the English because they are far weaker than the Danes. He wants to have some challenge on the battlefield as challenge gives him great pleasure. Thorkell goes to give Floki a gift. A giant boulder. After hearing Thorkell&#39;s statement from Floki, King Sweyn commands the siege to continue. They try to cut down the bridge, but Thorkell has another gift. A giant log he uses as a spear! Sure I&#39;ll believe it. Thorfinn sails close enough to London Bridge to jump and challenge Thorkell. There is some good single-shot fluid action going on. These are the same guys that did Attack on Titan&#39;s ODM action scenes, so expect greatness! Thorfinn and Thorkell duel it out. The size difference is laughable. Thorkell decides to fight barehanded, and Thorfinn takes that as an insult. He tries to attack, but nearly gets Saitama-ed by Thorkell. The size difference, and just Thorkell&#39;s giant build in general is posing a serious obstacle to short-king Thorfinn, so he decides to go in low and maneuver around which lands him a hit on Thorkell&#39;s... hand. Uh oh. Thorkell starts manhandling Thorfinn around like a ragdoll. Askeladd sees Thorfinn getting his ass handed to him and decides to retreat alongside the Danes. Thorfinn sneaks in one last attack, cutting off two of Thorkell&#39;s fingers. Thorkell is impressed,and wants to hear his name. He is Thorfinn, son of Thors. Thorkell is shocked, and Thorfinn retreats. Thorkell, after hearing he is the son of Thors, lets him go in the hopes that they meet again. King Sweyn decides to focus their attention on the rest of England as trying to take London while Thorkell is still there is too costly for a small reward. However, he decides to continue the siege with 4,000 men under the control of Prince Canute. Ragnar freaks out as he does not want Canute anywhere near Thorkell. Canute is inexperienced and soft. He is not cut out for war yet. The English believe they have won the battle which saddens and angers Thorkell greatly as there is no more fighting for him to enjoy. Thorfinn, like always, makes it back alive to Askeladd. This time unfortunately he doesn&#39;t win a duel with Askeladd, but he still keeps on marching toward that goal even if it kills him. A great action-packed episode. Thorfinn vs. Thorkell in the Battle of London Bridge is one of the best fights in Vinland Saga. WIT Studio shows that they still got it. Overall this episode is just one big spotlight for Thorkell, who is just so much fun to watch. His insatiable lust for battle along with freakish strength and skills is an entertaining combination to watch unfold.

The Battle of London Bridge delivers one of the most adrenaline-pumping and intense episodes of the season so far. The action kicks into high gear as Askeladd&#39;s band joins the fight alongside the Danes to take control of London Bridge-defended by the legendary warrior, Thorkell the Tall. This episode marks the dramatic entrance of Thorkell, a towering, almost comically enthusiastic berserker who loves battle more than victory itself. His presence is instantly magnetic and terrifying, creating a formidable contrast to Askeladd&#39;s cunning and Thorfinn&#39;s growing bloodlust. Thorkell isn&#39;t just a brute force-he&#39;s sharp, self-aware, and unpredictable, which makes him a fascinating new addition to the story. Thorfinn finally gets more time in the spotlight again, sent on a near-suicidal mission to kill Thorkell. The fight scene between them is stunningly animated-fluid, violent, and visceral. It&#39;s clear that despite Thorfinn&#39;s impressive growth as a warrior, he is still no match for a monster like Thorkell. This clash not only excites but also humbles, reminding the audience (and Thorfinn himself) that his journey toward revenge is far from over. Thorkell&#39;s twisted joy in battle, Askeladd&#39;s calculated ambition, and Thorfinn&#39;s desperate anger all highlight different philosophies of war. The contrast deepens the narrative, adding complexity to what could otherwise be just another battle episode. An electrifying episode that balances brutal action with sharp character work-Vinland Saga at its most intense and entertaining.
