This is a pretty decent slasher trilogy in the making.
I saw the first "Cold Prey" and thought it was okay. It was kind of slow and the kills weren't that great but it was beautifully filmed, well- enough acted for a Swedish film, or maybe that's Norwegian, who knows, and it had an awesome twist ending with one of the best hardcore metal songs to the end credits I have ever heard. In many respects it was a lot like Halloween (1978).
"Cold Prey 2" is even better than the first. It keeps all the successful elements from the first movie (well shot, well acted, well-directed) but has more kills, more tension and less build-up which is good because really, I've seen it all before and unless your birthing some slasher narrative miracle of nature there really is no need to have protracted character development revolving around horny teens.
Actually I liked this one (#2) better because it takes place in a hospital, has fully mature adults who are way less happy and way less whiny than the annoying teens in the first movie and has way better kills and pacing.
By the way, Halloween 2 (1980) takes place in a hospital. Go figure.

I've had the Cold Prey movies built up to me for a while now. All my friends have told me that I need to see them since I like horror movies so much. I had put off watching them since I figured I would just be let down, but finally I decided to sit down and watch the first and second one. I thought the first film was fairly mediocre but I still enjoyed it. Then I popped "Cold Prey 2" in and I was speech less.
There are 3 things that every slasher movie needs to be enjoyable
1. Likable characters - You have to like them in order to be able to cheer them on.
2. A Scary Killer - Someone so intimidating and terrifying that just the sheer thought of them coming after you gives you goosebumps.
3. A Good Pace - This is what a lot of slasher movies get wrong and this was one of the main problems I had with the first film. You don't want to take too long to get the kills going.
"Cold Prey 2" succeeds in all 3 of these aspects very well. The Killer is terrifying, the characters are likable, and things get going almost right from the start. Plenty of gore for the gore hounds and plenty of kills.
If you were not a fan of the 1st film I still suggest you give this one a try. Its a great ride 9/10

I absolutely loved the 1st one, classic slasher done so very well. This sequel was fantastic as well. It moved from one great place of atmosphere to another one. From the cold hotel to an even colder looking hospital, It had more of just about everything the 1st one did, but still without crossing the lines into "junk gore". It remained, like the first,. a remarkable classic slasher with all the right bells, whistles and jump scares. It's much harder to find = a lot more expensive to got your hands on than the 1st but well worth it in every way if you are looking for another quality slasher for your collection.
What kind of slasher lover am I....make me jump, creep me out, give me moody atmosphere and decent blood kills but I have zero interest in being psychologically traumatized (Torture and disturbing stuff) or making me want to vomit with disgust. (Needless gore and guts). If you like classic slashers you should love this well enough.

An sequel that is just as good and kick ass as the original! I thought it was more violent and action packed this time around but not overly done because just like in the original it focused on suspense and scares and character development more than gore and torture which is very rare in slashers these days. I thought the acting was just as strong or even better than in the original with our strong, heroine female lead who I think is very sexy, Hollywood should recruit her! There is not one dull moment in this film and is more fast paced than the original but it also has a build up too and is twice as entertaining and thrilling but the things that kept me from giving it a full 5 star rating is that it kind of lost its slasher touch making it more like an action/thriller with an body count and was less scary. The last half was fantastic though and kept me on the edge of my seat and had me rooting for the lead to survive and the film leaves it open for a Cold Prey 3 and I can't wait! Overall this is the best slasher series I've seen since maybe Scream 1 and 2 because to me it's near perfection when it comes to slasher flicks and I highly recommend it for fans of the genre. More of a 4.5 out of 5 stars. SEE IT ASAP!!! AS WELL AS THE FIRST ONE IF YOU HAVEN'T YET!
I watched the first Cold Prey movie back to back with this 2nd part Cold Prey. Although YOU don't have to. This second movie still makes very good sense without having to see the first movie, although I would recommend it as they are both good watches! I really love how the writer/director takes their the time for us to LIKE the characters. I CARED about them, and didn't want to see them hurt, unlike some of the horror movies where the characters are almost annoying and w kinda LIKE to see them killed off.It just makes for a more roller coaster of an emotional ride. Again, the subtitles were unusually easy to follow while watching the movie. The setting, this time around, is a hospital. Again reminiscent of the Halloween circa 1980's movies. And yet again, the acting is superb, the special effects (blood etc) were very well done without going overboard into shock territory. The pacing even better in this second movie. Very rare do we see the second installment even better then the first, but I agree with most other viewers who liked this one even better! Norway has really come thru for us fans who enjoy this type of horror. Excellently done and highly recommended!
