You will probably watch all the 7 episodes in a day or two. It's kind and interesting document. Shows Maradona from much more friendlier and kinder side than you know him from past few years.

This whole documentary series is as it says on the tin. World football legend Maradona giving what turns out to be his last shot on the frontline of football following his recent passing away (RIP).

On paper this should be car crash TV, with Maradona self-confessing to his drug problem, arriving to coach a side in a city infamous for its links to the drugs trades. However, he proves everyone wrong, and is quite a talisman to the side who fighting to promotion to the top tier in Mexican football (a league often the butt of jokes around the football world).

This documentary thus is very interesting, but it's not a hagiography. It's warts and all and we see Maradona's temper, but also his compassion. You see that despite all the money in the world, the only two things that really make him happy are his family and football on the ground. He has humour and warmth, and despite all the vagaries in his career, you can't help but warm to him and wish him well as he tries to seek redemption.

The documentary is overlong, and could have been a few episodes shorter without any loss of information, but that's a repeat problem nowadays with Netflix I'm finding.

It's well filmed, has humour, drama and a fascinating narrative. It's great to see something real on Maradona that doesn't need to concentrate on the seedier side of his past life. We have here a man seeking forgiveness and the success he had when younger. It's a challenge but you only end up wishing him well.

Regarded as the most legendary footballer to grace the game, Diego Armando Maradona comes to Culiacan, the heart of the Sinaloa cartel and well-known as Mexico's drug capital, to manage Mexican side Dorados. After taking on managerial positions in the United Arab Emirates and, most notably the Argentine national team at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Diego Maradona was given the aim to take the young, promising side to the top division, guiding them to promotion. Known away from football as an uncontrollable drug-addict, the opportunity to coach gives Maradona a distraction away from illegal substances and offers him a focus, which turns out to be a blessing. Embracing the culture that the city supplies, Diego uses his wisdom to drill a strong footballing mentality into his players, seeing their league position and results improve. It is comforting seeing him involved in the beautiful game, and iconic seeing his everpresent animation.

This is a chronicle of a legend, a sinner, a beaten up man finding redemption and healing from a city that accepted him and loved him for who he is. Great for short plane flights, and a great chance to understand better the magic of the Latino soul.

When it comes to Diego Maradona most people either love him or despise him. When it comes to the passion & love for the game you can't help but respect him. This Netflix original series shines a different light on Diego and creates a highly entertaining miniseries that is a must watch for any fan of futbal in my opinion.
