Worth bingeing but no The Wire or Bosch.

I enjoyed it, and so will you. Goes without saying that Lucy Liu is a goddess in all things, and by definition can do no wrong.

Having said that...😂 Despite its creative cinematography, it adheres to the routine police procedural shticks. Like many cop shows, it can be over-the-top sanctimonious, with pearl-clutching as its main dramatic element. Sometimes I wondered if it was written by a computer, not for lack of drama, but wanting to check all the standard boxes. So it can often come across as a comic book. To be sure, it's enjoyable to watch, but you won't come away with anything like serious questions about public policy, or true concern about the characters.

Each episode begins with an anemic two sentence introduction by an unknown narrator. I don't know if the writers were trying to establish Michael Connelly cred, or if they were simply following the directions of their middle school English teacher about starting with a thesis sentence (of which I STRONGLY approve, but it should be done with a little more skill).

So, yes, watch it by all means. But don't expect Bosch, The Wire, Homicide Life on the Streets, or even The Shield. More like a more violent version of Adam 12.
