Gia Sandhu in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

9/10

Hit it

Yeah, this is well done.

Star Trek has always been a socially aware series so... I fully expected to get hit over the head with the neo-left agenda going in to this. Not so much, I was surprised the episode skirts the middle for the most part. All that aside.

What an absolutely beautiful series, possibly the most cinematic series premiere I have ever seen. I mean holy cow, that production is absolutely off the charts. The special effects are top notch, cinematography is excellent, and lots of call backs with the music and sfx. It's a series premiere so the episode is heavy on exposition, when it comes to the dialog and writing, but that's all excusable. But the structure of the episode is a direct call back to the OG series and Next Generation, and that is the real brilliance of the episode.

My only worry is whether the production values, and the general momentum, can be maintained through a season. We shall see, I'm hoping it continues to be successful. I'm on board, looking forward to this one.
