As long as you aren't expecting a blockbuster, you should enjoy this movie. The movie doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a zombie movie, with characters who are "the boys" in every way. If you like zombie movies, then you'll probably only read the comments to make sure that the movie isn't terrible - which it isn't.
It has fun, funny, serious, and even poignant moments. There is some character development as well. One criticism would be that the movie sometimes makes killing zombies looks easy and fun, and in other situations difficult.
The movie has good atmosphere, although not as well developed as Shaun of the Dead or 28 Days Later. The plot is not terribly strong or original though.

If Sean of the Dead and Flight of the Concords had a love child...I think it just might be this movie.
For the most part this is a pretty fun and amusing zombie flick to watch, with a somewhat original approach to it. If you're looking for a gore fest, this movie is definitely not it...although it does have some pretty cool zombie deaths mixed in.
A quick summary of the plot: The movie starts off 6 months after the "apocolypse" and most the world is overrun with zombies. The film quickly switches to 3 guys kicking back in a mansion. As far as they know they're the only survivors around and have been spending their time traveling from mansion to mansion, drinking beer and playing video games. It actually seems like a lot of fun. While out perusing the town for a new pad they run across an attractive young lady who has a solution to the zombie issue. That's where the movie takes on it's main plot, so I won't spoil anymore.
Really what saves this movie is the camera work. It's really well done. The dialog is also one of the main focus points in this film, seeing as there is definitely a lot more talking than fighting...but if you get the humor then you'll find yourself enjoying it just as much as the violence. The other review said this movie was made for under 1 million...and I think it was pretty well spent. Overall I'd suggest giving this film a watch.

Wow... So this film was so boring. I rented it because it looked like it would be up the same alley as Shawn of the Dead, but aside from zombies and jokes they are in NO way comparable.
The production values were low enough to be a distraction for one. The acting was lame for two. The story was boring for three.. ugh! I spent five bucks to rent this film and I feel totally cheated. If I had ANYTHING else to do, I never would have finished it. I was happy when the credits rolled.
Okay, I've ranted I feel better. So why a 3 star not a 1? It's not the worst movie I've ever seen. Also, there were on very seldom occasions a few laughs. Mostly the movie was just laughable though.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME.

I bought it, because I was fooled by the "destined to become a cult classic" sticker on the front.. It's nowhere near being a cult classic, I'd be surprised if it's remembered in a few years..
The characters were funny enough, most of the time, but sometimes also too much.. Like lead actor Morgan got annoying in the end with his cocky attitude, could've been done better..
Zombies farting all the time isn't my thing either.. Zombies suddenly learning to run in the middle of the movie isn't my thing either.. An ending you've seen many times before isn't my thing either..
Also a very big concern I have.. WHY do some zombie heroes and heroins try to find a cure, that can turn the zombies back to normal?? Who'd want to be a rotten human? Zombies are DEAD and CAN'T be turned back.. You can maybe make a vaccine, so you can become immune, but a cure to turn you back would never be possible in any zombie universe..
"You've been turned back to normal! Now go live your life again!" "But.. My guts are all over the floor.." *drops dead again*
Rent it, if you MUST see it!

I bought this movie under the assumption that it might be a zombie comedy that had something to offer. And especially since there has been a couple of very noteworthy zombie movies rearing its decaying head from Australia, New Zealand and that general area.
However, I managed to get only 30 minutes into "Last of the Living" before I had to give up entirely and find something else to watch. This movie failed to captivate me and failed to grasp my interest in the most horrible way. The movie was just so uninspiring and anything but interesting.
The 30 minutes that I watched offered no comedy, very little action in terms of zombies and the stuff usually Associated with the zombie genre. Though the characters did seem to have been thoroughly thought through and given stories. But it just wasn't enough to keep me interested.
And from what I saw of zombies in the 30 minutes, then the zombies were nothing more than low-budget zombies. You know, the type where the faces are powdered a grayish color and blackened around the eyes. I saw no special effects or anything that would usually be much welcomed in the zombie genre in terms of make-up and special effects.
If you are looking for a zombie comedy, then your money, time and effort are better spent on movies such as "Shaun of the Dead" or "Dead Alive", to mention but two of the more established movies in the zombie genre.
I have no plans to make a return trip to "Last of the Living" in order to finish watching it. No, it just didn't appeal to me in any way. So this movie will now quietly fade into oblivion on the shelves of the movie collection.

- Crazy creditsIn virtually every film ever made that has opening credits (some films have no opening credits at all), the final credit is always Director. This film is unusual, by having the acting credits after the Director's credit.
