A snowy day, Natsume and Nyanko-sensei went for a walk to Shibanohara. There seemed to be two statues of the forest guardian deity, but now there is only one.
Natori, Natsume and Nyanko-sensei go on a hot spring trip. At that inn, they listen to the noise from the closet and watch a woman wearing a kimono hang from the ceiling.
Kirinoha, a timidly spirit asks Natsume to return his name. Kirinoha says that Reiko said she would return his name after 50 years, and then tied the paper that wrote his name to a branch in a forest.
Natsume saw a teenage girl who draws something on the ground. Though he speaks, she runs away without saying anything. Next morning, a spirit who grew small mustache asks Natsume to stop that a human girl draws some ominous magic circles.
Natsume goes to study training camp with Nishimura and Kitamoto. They are having a good time, but a mermaid attacks Natsume to take away "The Book of Friends".
From the day Natsume have gotten a picture of a row of cherry blossom trees denuded of their leaves in winter, his room is full of cherry blossom petals when he wakes up every morning.
The paranormal phenomena began to occur in Fujiwara's house. Shigeru tells Natsume that he had the same experiences in the house when he was a child, and then a mysterious teenage girl helped him.
Natori invites Natsume to the exorcist's meeting. Natsume thinks that it might be able to find out what he can do in the people who share the same power and the same suffering.
Natsume rescued Kai, a boy who was trapped in a box at an abandoned house with rumors that paranormal phenomena occur. Natsume heard that spirits are pursuing Kai, it reminds of his own childhood and he wants to protect Kai.
