what John Oliver used to be like

I'm not American, so all US-internal trouble is a bit of a poke-the-bear fun to me (especially at work, employed in "global"=US-based corporation). But I do try to keep fresh with US-affairs, mostly by watching some sort of "comedian take on ...". For years I watched John Oliver for that, but now he became less of a comedian, more of a whiny little b*. He's totally one-sided now, and not at all funny (pity). Must be his renounce of his British passport (name one better comedy than Monty Python, I dare you). This guy - Schulz doesn't pull punches. He tells it like it is, not like CNNs (or Foxes) of this world tell you. He mocks both sides evenly. Refreshing. And does this with a speed of belt-fed machine gun - if you're not a native-speaker, get your subtitles and "pause" button ready. He does it like Oliver did 5+ years ago, before he ... softened up. Kudos! Truly entertaining (and all the Kardashian mentions! :)

What Doesn't Kill Us Only Makes Us Stronger

Andrew Schulz Is a rare type of man. And a rare type of comedian. Very smart. Very hip. Very intelligent. His topics are hot buttons here in the US and he likes to tear into them like a rabid pit-bull FROM BOTH SIDES. He's not afraid to rub your nose in things...and do it with humor. In the last episode the humor turned noticeably darker. Please watch.

Definitely Need To Watch His Other Work Before This

Over the last few weeks I've being made aware of Schulz and he quickly became my favourite comedian with his Facebook and YouTube videos. This special is a form similar to one he does on Facebook and it's really good. Definitely a good watch.

I understand how people can see issues with his break neck speed of delivery and the format which from not knowing of him preciously seems daunting, but each to their own I guess. It definitely helps to see his videos of his stand up and definitely his Facebook videos of the same style to know what you're getting into.

Centrists will laugh, Lefty's will melt.

Those who gave this 1 star are lefty sore losers who can't take a joke because they lack the ability of self reflection and are married to their ideas because.... go team woke ✊🏼. Normal folks will have a laugh.

Truly Significant

Yes, it's extreme rapid fire, scripted, and nothing like a regular stand up special. Still, it's a better format than Kevin Hart's latest attempt, and if wanted more of that eletist garbage...mk.

I'm not usually a bug fan of news cycle humor, but the pace at which Schultz weaves together headlines and social issues from 2020, the most constant and divisive news cycle of the century, is very impressive and poignant. He illustrates the sensationalism and hypocrisy that has our nation on the brink of civil war as of December 2020, and if enough of the radicalized nutjobs could see this and take it to heart, we could get back to a baseline of tempered discourse, and it might actually...save America.

Don't mess with a good thing

I'm glad Netflix didn't put the clamps on Andrew Schultz and make him follow some script. This man is comedic gs and spits truth after truth while destroying both sides of the aisle. Much needed in the year of 2020.

Best News Report of 2020

This show was amazing. This is the most honest depiction of 2020 I have heard. America needs to wake the f!@k up and realize we are not as divided as the news wants us to be!

Suitable Satire for a Pandemic.

As you will gather, most of the content is dense and delivered without any dramatic pauses that you would normally find in a standup routine. This has been self-evident when you watch any TV Host trying to deliver punchlines to a empty studio during the pandemic.

Been aware of Andrew Schulz from YouTube and his divisive humour may not land with this delivery style. As he sits in the 'middle' politically and tends to like breaking balls as he freely admits. Great effort although it may not appeal to all.

Hilarious to the bone!

I love seeing people comment that Andrew Schulz is a "right-wing comedian". They clearly missed his obsessively centrist approach to this special. I've been a fan of andrew schulz for a couple years, and believe me, there's a lot of "conservative" ideas he disagrees with. He just tells it as he sees it and at the end of the day, is just trying to make us laugh.

Average Satire...

George Carlin, Bill HIcks, Frankie Boyle, Charlie Brooker, you're all safe, this is no competition. Quick fire delivery without a breath, the same 6 jokes repackaged i.e. points at photo insert and says 'not that one!' how many times? Some of his 'observations' raised a chuckle, but I won't be seeking out any more of his work, others do it way better and far more subtly, no CRASH ! BANG! IN YER FACE...! Charlie Brooker's Death To 2020 is now out, and Frankie Boyle's New World Order Se5 is in the pipeline for the Spring, and definitely worth the wait. And they have better dress sense, bonus.

I am not a hater sir but this is not special

Ok, I am going to start off saying that I think Andrew Schulz is a funny comedian. I've watched a few of his stand up specials and regularly watch his podcast and was hella excited to watch this comedy special, unfortunately 5 mins in I absolutely hated the format. its just him doing wordplay, throwing very corny punchlines every 5 seconds and giving commentary on world news. I felt bombarded by the amount of punchlines coming my way that I couldn't even keep up or take in some of the clever stuff he was trying to portray, I found it annoying and didn't even bother to play the other parts as I realised its just the same format, Andrew ear bashing me into submission. I tapped out after first 5 mins, played part 2 hoping it would be different but also tapped out after 3 mins. Get that Netflix money but the reviews giving this over 5 stars is not realistic, I just expected a regular stand up special.

Funniest show I've seen in a long time

Bravo Netflix, Shulz doesn't hold back anything here, and I mean anything. Hilarious and timely show. There's not much more to be said here, go watch it

Review from a huge Flagrant 2 & Brilliant Idiots fan

Andrew is really funny but this format is not conducive to comedy. You need to give your jokes some room to breath. This is a matter of personal taste, some people might like this barrage of jokes thrown at them with no relation to each other, but for someone like me I just don't like the format, even though the jokes themselves are funny. The problem is that the jokes don't feel connected which doesn't work for longer formats. Andrew started doing these for 2-3 minutes on instagram which made sense but doing it for 30 minutes straight was a lapse in judgement on Flagrant team's part.

Falls short

Way too fast paced; feels extremely scripted and over-edited.

Spitting truth with some great jokes.

Schulz does an amazing job giving a rational, centrist view of political events with some great jokes too. It's not hilarious, but is fast and intriguing and tells the politcal right and left exactly what needs to be said right now.

Honest sensitive people stay away - you've been warned

I may not agree with everything he says in this, but it's as close to honest as we can get these days.

Have to watch it again, there are many references in short time and in you are uninformed or only watch say CNN you wont get half of it.

Very good

I've watched all his YouTube videos over the past few months and this is more of the same which is to say more good stuff. To be fair I am a middle Of the road guy who doesn't understand or like the extremes on both sides so I am biased as he and I seem to think alike. Aside from the political points it is really funny and the cut a ways they use are great. Makes you laugh and hopefully you go in with an open mind and if so it'll make you think too

Insufferable

A man on a chair yelling references to popular culture directly to the camera, saying nothing and adding nothing. Tedious and empty. Does seem like it will appeal to idiots.

They put YouTube videos on Netflix

So instead of giving Schulz a comedy special Netflix decided to pay him to put the type of content he was already making on YouTube on Netflix. The problem is for this type of content, the 16 minute episodes are wayyy too long and get very boring really fast. On the upside, Schulz is a great personality and his perspectives on the various issues talked about in the show are thought provoking and sometimes funny. Overall I think they should have given him a comedy special, because that is where Schulz shines, and because the politics discussed in this show can alienate some of his fans.

I see it the way he does

It's fast paced but worth the watch. Especially if you think as he does about how manipulated we are by media. It's good humor but not hilarious however. for me, It's more about the content and overall message of the series. I really enjoyed it!

Fantastic

Lol at the dude saying it appeals to idiots. The complete opposite, it's an open minded shows that highlight all points and sides and that just upsets some people these days. Hilarious, quick, pointed. Schulz nails it again, he did many of these on youtube before netflix picked them up if anyones hungry for more!

An Incredibly Funny Special That Had Me Laughing - Must Watch

This non-PC special is just what the world needed after such a long year! His jokes were hilarious and as Netflix promised, it was edgy.

I couldn't help but think of Dave Chapelle's Sticks and Stones special. Yes, a small % will be offended by this and try to force you to be offended as well, but for the majority of people, this will be a hilarious watch.
