Skip it

I suppose it would be pointless for me to tell you not to see A Dangerous Man, because I doubt anyone is gonna want to. That said for every 1000 movie goers in the world, I'm sure there are one or two who are looking into this, and to those people I say, spend your money elsewhere.

It not like any of the Seagal movies gave us anything in the way of a character, but in A Dangerous Man, he plays the ultimate nobody; an ex-soldier who has just gotten out of the joint only to find himself mixed up in some Chinese mob mischief operating out of a Pacific coastal town.

Worst of all, Steven Seagal has gotten so big that he can't even kick butt convincingly, I doubt if he can even lift his leg halfway to a kicking height. As a result, the fights here are so sissy and lame. I would be more afraid of fighting a squirrel than taking on this Seagal.

A Dangerous Man, is just plain boring. I have little hope that Steven Seagal will be able to do any better in the future. Although it would be nice if he could prove me wrong.

If viewers does not mind watching a much heavier Seagal

(2009) A Dangerous Man ACTION

Written and directed by Keoni Waxman, straight-to-rental with Steven Seagal (also credited as one of the executive producers) as an ex-military soldier, Shane Daniels this times and is 30 pounds heavier, has just been arrested and sentenced for a thug who tried to mug his wife and was beaten to a pulp. This same thug was later found dead with all fingers pointing to Seagal who was later cleared because of DNA. But as a result of this long absence, his wife leaves him with nothing to go for it. He then comes across becoming a witness of an execution of a random police officer stop who eventually turns out was working with a particular police force who aligns itself with a Chinese gangster involving human smuggling. After stealing a bag of money from the bad guys vehicle as well as a kidnapped girl whose been knocked unconscious nearly escaping with a young teenager who steals cars for a living whose father has ties with the Russian mob! They become allies against the Chinese gang and against the corrupt police officers which look like that it involves the rest of the force! Very boring and tiresome action sequences even though it has a fair amount but very uninteresting using a convoluted formuliac plot device filled with some of the worst acting imaginable! Almost unbearable to watch!

Another run-of-the-mill subpar Seagal movie...

The 2009 movie "A Dangerous Man" was another Steven Seagal movie that I had never heard about, and thus never seen. And sitting through a Steven Seagal marathon here in 2023, I came across this movie. I have to admit that I harbored zero expectations to writer and director Keoni Waxman with this movie, as the majority of Seagal movies since the mid-1990s have been dubious movies.

The storyline in "A Dangerous Man" started out okay, and there seemed to be something to the movie. But then the air deflated from the balloon rather quickly and the movie spiraled into a prolonged viewing experience of a script and storyline that proved to be somewhat boring and felt mostly like it was made up on the fly as writer and director Keoni Waxman was filming the movie.

There were a couple of familiar faces on the cast list, aside from Steven Seagal himself, and that was Jerry Wasserman, Byron Mann and Mike Dopud. It should be noted that the acting performances in the movie were actually fair enough, despite of a subpar script and storyline.

There is a good amount of action throughout the course of the movie, and it most certainly was the action that kept the movie afloat and kept it somewhat watchable.

Running at only 94 minutes, sitting through "A Dangerous Man" was quite an ordeal, because the pacing of the narrative in the movie was so mundane, bland and slow paced that it felt twice as long.

My rating of "A Dangerous Man" lands on a very generous four out of ten stars.
