I had such high expectations after 4 episodes. There were a multitude of characters with different motivations. And then slowly this show degraded into one dimensional storyline.
This show is more about synths than aliens. And there is no logic in anything the synths do. They are the most unlikeable protagonists. Are we supposed to root for the synths? By the end of the season I was rooting for the synths to die because they are so loathsome.

I didn't have any expectations, but I didn't think bringing the aliens to the earth was a good idea. I was pleasantly surprised from episode 1. This series is going in a different direction than the movies, but isn't that expected? From the previous reviews, and I use that term very loosely for some, you either like it or you hate it. For some of the comments I disagree totally. The acting is excellent, there is action, suspense, surprise gore (though not as much as I expected there would be) and the special effects are amazing, and for anyone to say that they hope there isn't a second season. Why! Because you didn't like something, it should be discontinued and taken away from those that do enjoy it? Maybe you should just change the channel and move along. For there to be so many down votes of good reviews, they must be bots. It's an enjoyable program and the first season is usually the "setup". I'm looking forward to another season to see where this is going. I liked it, but watch it and see for yourself. It you don't, that's okay too.

I'm giving this a 10/10, because it's the End. After this, US streaming, movie production, the whole video shebang, is just over. Finished.
The characters in this puke stain are the stupidest, most suicidally incompetent people in the history of human evolution. The dialogue is random pages from different scripts, munged together by AI.
The production values tick all the boxes ticked by every Z grade ScIfi made in the last 20 years. "It's ok everybody, we used the right lighting plugins and copied the shooting styles of every action film we thought matched - that's Good Quality Film Making, right?"
The story advances in no direction. The music is hysterically random and misplaced. The creatures are given opportunity after opportunity to be interesting and fail every time.
It's just a giant, burning skid mark on the s-bend of screencraft! It reflects the age it exists in, perfectly! It is pure, unrefined, unrestrained disaster garbage!

The best part, and maybe one of the only grown up scene of the show so far, which is the story of the ship carring the monsters, is abruptly fast forwarded so they can get fast to the part they can play and be Disney kids.
They are super fast, they can jump from the moon, yeah yeah, action starts and I was surprised they didnt sit on the floor and cried.
It is kinda of fair their excuse to use kids because of the growing brain and so, but in a super future world where you have no clue a giant space ship is gonna hit your planet, and you have technology from a 90's future perspective gives me the impression that reasonability was not the priority, but rather extract money from every age group possible.
Aimed to please shareholders, not fans.

Just got back from an early screening of episode one. My wife and I really enjoyed it and we're ready for episode 2. Production quality is through the roof! Set design for the ship is ripped straight out of the first Alien and it looks and feels organic. The world building is interesting and they breathe fresh air into the technology and creatures. Strong cast and a tone that is very Alien. Stoked to see where this season goes!

First of all: the production is excellent. Great atmosphere and cinematogrophie. I give that 5 stars. BUT... the story is absolutely BS. What idiot came up with the children being the superheros?! I really wanted to like this... but i ended this series for me at episode 4 when the totally unlikeable character Wendy started talking in the "alien"-language. I laughed out loud and stopped watching.
I had expectations like the Aliens actually invading Earth. Roaming throu the streets of Manhattan and doing their Alien-thing. Something like a mix of "Cloverfield" and "Jurassic Park". Instead we got a mix of "Stand by me" and "The Goonies" in space.

I'm a big alien franchise fan. And I absolutely love this series. I only wish that Hulu would have dropped the whole season instead of dripping it out once a week. The acting is amazing, the story is amazing, locations and special effects are spot on. I like how they have more than just one alien that way they can tell multiple stories. The actors that are children do a great job convincing us and reminding us that yes they are in adult bodies but their minds are still children. The writers have kept the tension high making us want more. I look forward to this every week. I don't understand the negative reviews. It seems like they don't really have a reason for the negative reviews.

Just two episodes in and for now this is exactly what the franchise Alien as tv show should be. I think most reviewers criticizing the show after only one episode don't understand the difference between a movie and a tv show. And there's a big difference. Nonetheless, this show has amazing production, it's fast paced while managing to give solid character building. I hope it manages to keep it up.
I'm absolutely loving this. As a long-time fan of the Alien franchise, I can confidently say they've captured the essence of what makes those early films so iconic. The atmosphere, the tension, and the visual aesthetic all feel incredibly authentic-it's as if you've stepped right into the world Ridley Scott and James Cameron helped create. The environments are dark, industrial, and alive with that perfect blend of sci-fi grit and looming dread.

When I heard they plan an Alien series located pn Earth, I was thrilled watchinig it. Sure, the monsters are cool, but the storyline and the characters are so poorly written. Compare it for example with Stranger Things, where every single character is awesome and you cannot wait to continue. I am disappointed thinking about what could have been done. After the first two episodes I still hope that it will improve.

There have been plenty of Alien projects that have come out over the years since the original trilogy and while some have been watchable and the other down right awful, this is closer to the unwatchable ones than the watchable. Somehow, it's gotten nothing but great reviews from critics and split from fans of the franchise. It actually currently has a fantastic 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Alien: Earth is about when a mysterious spaceship crashes on Earth and a ragtag group of soldiers, led by a woman named Wendy, have to make the discovery that will put them up against the greatest threat the planet has ever seen. What follows is a series that looks like it was made for kids and not adults.
*Alien: Earth* delivers a fresh and exciting boost to the *Alien* franchise, blending classic horror with modern ideas-from artificial intelligence and identity to corporate tyranny-within an intense visual narrative. With strong performances, cinematic flair, and philosophical dialogue, this series emerges as a thrilling television debut that's well worth watching for fans of both science fiction and horror.

As an alien fan for 40+ years, I was hopeful that this series could finally revive the franchise. However, what made Alien great was suspense. What made Aliens awesome was action (and a sublime cast, script, and director). Whoever wrote and directed this has completely missed what makes the franchise great; instead, they think it's about horror about grossing people out. They're going for cheap scares and have just completely missed what makes the franchise great. Sad. Hoping it picks up, but based on the direction the series is going, I hold no hopes.

I'll give it a chance but so far its very disjointed and feels like there is very little in the way of a plot.
The atmosphere, tension & suspense of the movies has been jettisoned and replaced with inappropriate syth music to "tell" you when you're supposed to be excited or scared when the filmmakers havn't earned any of that in terms of storytelling.
The series opens up with a throwback to alien which, I assume, we will revist as a flashback episode at some point. Its a nostalgia tip of the hat but it felt all surface level and rushed. I wasn't invested in any of the characters so far. There was no tension built at all. A series gives you the opportunity to explore the world with depth which so far seems to be a secondary thought here.
Many reviewers have mentioned the glaring issues in the first two episodes which I wont rehash here. Suffice to say it does raise a few questions in terms of writing and direction.

Just finished the first two episodes. Seen lots of criticism in some reviews about it not being like the movies. This isn't a movie, this is a series. They are building the framework of characters and plots. Give it a chance to find its stride. First episode is slower but shows potential. Second episode picks up and shows what it is capable of. I'm looking forward to the next episode.
I've now seen the first episode twice, once at Comic-Con and once at a local theater screening. I'm glad to get the cinema experience at least once, because this FELT like a movie. If it had been stretched to an hour, it would have easily slotted right in as another chapter in the film franchise, and probably immediately jumped into the top three there. Compelling characters all around, but Sydney Chandler's anime-like eyes just pull you in and you can't look away from her when she's on screen. Only one episode, to be sure, and they'll need to stick the landing, but In Hawley I trust.

This is what core Alien fans want. This tv series is true to the original Alien movie that I watched 46yrs ago. The acting is mostly good. The CGI is better, the decoration and rooms look original..but the story is fresh with new aliens and a good story. Does not disappoint. This tv series opens up many more new dimensions and directions from the alien franchise.. The special effects didn't disappoint. So as a core Alien fan who saw the alien movie in the cinema in 1979, this Alien Earth tv series has not disappointed. Now that is up to episode 5. So I hope Hollywood and Disney dont crew up the end of the season or next seaons like they do with all the other Hollywood tv Netflix Disney series. BTW love the Octopus.
