Madhuram - (Sweetness of Life)

Joju is the heart of this movie. After Joseph this guy has again shown that the pure element of love lies in accepting your loved one the way he/she is and sometimes we can't change fate, we have to change according to our fate to love our loved ones. Nice watch.

The sweety one!

Madhuram 🎬 The sweetest movie I've seen this year✨ The hospital was always an Unfavourable Ambience for me. But this movie completely dispels such a thought because this movie has been made to be so sweet. The best performance of all can be seen throughout. Everyone was given a good character development by the director. Joju, Sruthi, Nikhila, Arjun 👌🖤

A RELATABLE STORY WITH TOP NOTCH PERFORMERS AND WELL SCRIPTED STORY

Madhuram ( Sweet ) a family emotional drama movie directed & written by Ahameed Khabeer starring Joju George, Arjun Ashok, Indrans, Nikhila Vimal & Shruti Ramchandran in lead roles.

Movie released on Sony Liv app on 24th December 2021....

This movie doesn't need a verdict, as it will be all time memorable and feel good movie...One of the place where we refuse to go is "HOSPITAL". Y??? The ambience itself will makes us low and fall sick even if we are not. So just imagine of the life of the patients and their by standers who stays in the hospital for weeks, months, sometimes even years. Had we ever thought of their feelings??, their trauma they are passing through?? This movie shows that all...

A story based on true incident of those people who had passed through this trauma when spending their part of their life. It also shows when our own people will show the true colors when its required, the unintentional or else we can say the accidental bonding with other bystanders gives us a mental strength and support by which we could over come the pain of "DETACHMENT" from our loved one who in the ICU expects a day when he/she gets to see the beautiful world again....

No one is superior in this movie when it comes to performance, all of them had done a wonderful performance. Such kind of movies will always be encouraged so that the thought that we kept of our approach towards life will definitely chance & start to accept the things in a more practical way...

Songs, BGM was good and it was having that emotional touch...

As the tile suggest, MADHURAM ( SWEET), life is not only the happy moments, but if a difficulty / pain arises how to convert that period into sweetness had been portrayed...

A family loving movie of ALL TIME....

Madhuram is the sweetest film you will watch this year!

What is with Malayalam films and the slice of life genre? It is like a match made in heaven. The latest is Ahammed Khabeer's Madhuram. Ahammed reunites with Joju George and many others to give us a sweet film about love & it's numerous forms.

The film revolves around a group of people in a hospital's bystanders hall, who bond whilst waiting for their loved ones to recover. Front & centre are Joju George's Sabu & Arjun Ashokan's Kevin as they navigate through other vagaries of life as well. Indrans, Nikhila Vimal, Shruti Ramachandran, Jaffar Idukki & Jagadeesh co-star.

Madhuram is proof that you can find stories anywhere & everywhere. All you need to do is listen because everyone has lived and loved and each one has something unique to quote about their life. Joju George's Sabu steals the show (when has he not) as the man who offers a helping hand to everyone who needs it. His backstory is in the spotlight. His chemistry with Shruti Ramachandran's Chitra is refreshing. It is one of the sweetest love stories I have watched onscreen. For folks who have watched Churuli (also available on Sony Liv), will be happy to watch Idukki & Joju being all well-mannered.

Arjun Ashokan's story is something I couldn't relate to but it is interesting nevertheless. Indrans continues to play the wizened old man, who manages to leave a smile on your face everytime with his anecdotes & advice.

Madhuram is the sweetest movie you will watch this year. It may go unnoticed given the OTT platform it is on, but do watch it by hook or by crook because hands down this is the best movie to release on Christmas Day (in years).

Malayalam film start & end the year with a bang. From The Great Indian Kitchen to Madhuram; 2021 has been another excellent year for Mallu films.

Strong Element : LOVE

Outstanding Movie. What a performance. Brilliant.!

Joju George never disappoints when comes to acting especially emotional and anger. Indrans and other cast were also done great job here.

There is a lesson, There is Happiness, There is Struggle, Emotion and There is LOVE. Which connects them all.

A good Family Movie.

Flawed...Still a good movie with a soul.

A movie should have a soul and it should be able to make an impression in the viewer. In that sense, 'Madhuram' is a success. The script is imperfect in many areas, however by the time the movie ends, the viewer feels satisfied and won't get disappointed for spending 2 hours watching it. A good watch.

Joju George captivates in a soulful drama about love & life

I have had a lifelong fear of hospitals and have always thought of them as giving off negative energy and a sense of dread. It is within those confines however, that director Ahammed Khabeer delivers one of the most heartwarming, feel-good stories in Malayalam this year in the simple but profound 'Madhuram'.

Weaving its story around a group of bystanders who find camaraderie in a government hospital, the director introduces us to myriad characters, each with their own joys and pain. Indrans is captivating as a retired postman, finding solace in the romance him and his ailing wife of 40 years share.

Joju George has a uncanny ability to make the audience feel and empathize with almost every expression he goes through on screen and the National Award winner revels as 'Sabu', a happy-go-lucky chef looking after his sick wife. His chemistry with Shruti Ramachandran is electric and is the best part of the movie.

Arjun Asokan picks up a brave role, a far cry from the usual characters he plays. Understated, diminutive and even submissive, 'Kevin' may frustrate you at times but his character development through the movie was a joy to watch.

Veterans Lal and Jagadeesh are both is terrific in short cameos while Navas Vallikkunnu keeps showing us he deserves full-length character roles, packing a punch with his presence in just 2-3 scenes. Jaffer Idukki continues to grow from strength to strength and is at his nuanced best as 'Kunjikka'.

The music of the movie contributes majorly in amplifying the experience and the emotions, especially the sensational 'Gaaname' , that will surely stay with you long after the movie ends. Hats off to Hesham Abdul Wahab for a fantastic new set of compositions after he enthralled us with 'Darshana'.

This does not mean the movie didn't have its downsides. Nikhila Vimal was given precious little screen time and dialogues to work with and her character comes across as one dimensional. Fahim Samar was inept as 'Thaju' and one cant help but think a better actor could have made that role more impactful and endearing.

Ultimately Madhuram' is a simple, heartwarming tale of coming to terms with what life throws at you, no matter how dire or seemingly unsurmountable the challenges may be. This, along with the delightful #Home (2021) is what feel-good movies should aspire to be rather than the preachy, melodramatic, template messes makers like Jis Joy keep putting out.

A sweet that wasn't sweet enough!!

As A non-mallu - bored to death by typical Bolly porboilers, and drawn into the world of Malayali cinemas in search for refreshing stories - Madhuram really started really well for me. But, it stretched itself a bit too long, and started losing its freshness halfway. I wish it could be a bit sweeter!!

Beautiful movie that fills your heart and eyes

I haven't seen this kind of an excellent movie in near future. This will truly fill your heart and eyes.

Ahammed Khabeer has beautifully captured each and every frames of this movie. His direction helped us to watch this by your heart Emotions are changing in each scene..If one scene makes you smile, the next scene will make you cry. It shows that actual love is not just some physical affection. True love is that when we put them before all our needs and we are ready to do anything for them.

This emotional rollercoaster film would have been an utter flop, if there happened any problem with direction. But he beautifully managed to do this. A huge Kudos to all the team. The actors too have done exceptionally well.

Joju, Shruthi,Indrans, Arjun all the cast performed really well.

The chemistry of Joju and Shruthi was the highlight of the film

This is one of the few movies that made me cry This got a place in my all time favourite list.

Good performance, nothing else in this

Great performance by all actors, that's the only good part about this movie. Other than that it's a slow dragging story with no content to hold the interest.

Sometimes charactors acting and dialogs presentation appear as somewhat forced to make it look too realistic

At the end I was left with wondering why did I waste 2 hours for this.

An ordinary movie

Felt like the story and the script has huge age difference even though the director tried to delivered his best.. Yes there were some good moments and there were some unwanted moments and characters.

Had a good message but felt clumsy at places

The camera, cinematography, acting and all were good. The message is something like food for thought. But the bad part is it the movie felt awkward at many places.

Don't know if it is the editing or the script which is the problem. It didn't feel like it was flowing naturally. I mean, think of some old movies of Sathyan Anthikkad. There won't be much in terms of serious events happening in the movie. But the movie flows naturally. The scenes don't feel out of place. Manasinakkare is an example.

Madhuram tries to be a movie like that in structure. But it fails at many places. Some scenes and the mood it creates felt out of place. But it felt quite good in other scenes, especially the flashback of Joju.

The music was average, with only one song being good.

The casting was good except for Jagadeesh. He doesn't look like a new gen father at all. Maybe graying his hair would've made it more believable.

In the hands of a more experience director, this movie would have looked much better.

Hit n Miss

Madhuram is a good film! But there a portions of this film that doesn't just work out or felt out of place. The acting, cinematography all seemed very good especially the cinematography which along with the music helped in that feel good mood. And that is also where the movie falls, too much feel good, would the movie hit hard it the ending was a tragic one? Something to think about.

All flaws aside the one thing that will stand out is JOJU! Man what an actor he has become, him and his story stands out here.

A sweet movie -- As the name says

A simple feel good movie with a lot of specialities.

We have seen hospital drams in the past -- husband/wife/kids about to die, their spouses/parents suffering so on. I don't think I have seen a movie only about bystanders before. In this movie, except for Joju's unwell wife, we don't see the patients at all. We hear/feel the story based on the expressions & narrations by the bystanders. People from various walks of life gets together without any religious/cultural/status difference into one entity - a bystander waiting for their patient to become well.

Narrated with ease & humour, it was so heartening to see so many "good" people who wish best for each other. Very well taken. Worth watching.

At the end of the day, this movie leaves a feeling (a good one) in our mind much deeper that those stories that spoke about the sufferings of patients & their relatives.

Average Feel Good Film

Madhuram is a film that has done many parts right but when it all comes together, it does not fit the best. As the name suggests, the film is too sweet. There is barely any grey in any character, everyone seems to be a good person who has jokes, anecdotes to share, hi-five and cry about. Even a couple staring at divorce don't show any explicit negativity.

But the good parts are well enjoyable, like the beautiful photography that usually any Malayalam film has. The shots of the female protagonists have been shot in such simplistic yet luscious ways that you would fall in love just the way the male leads do.

The close to flawless acting of certain actors like the veteran Joju George, the comedian turned drama actor Indrans, the young in the industry actresses like Nikhila and Shruti are commendable.

Other than that it does not offer much. It does not follow a neat structure hence towards the end you might seek for many gaps and that might leave you unfulfilled.

Average

I watched this movie based on the good reviews, To be honest it is an average movie. A 30 minutes story expanded to 2 hours , so I felt lag in between. It showing a government hospital, but I felt it is totally artificial. Actually it's an attempt to a heart felting love story , but there are a lot of misses . Joju as always good performance.

A very sweet feel good movie

Felt like watching a close to heart movie after a long time. You end the movie with a lighted heart. The performance of all actors were top notch. Not sure why it didn't do well in theatres.
