Platinum End

5/10

Noooooo, why?

I watched Platinum End because I heard it was from the same creators behind Death Note but I quickly detached myself from comparing the two.

The first half of the series was promising. Love, hope and self-discovery were standout themes within the first couple of episodes until crucial characters died and the writing went into heavy topics of death, depression and suicide.

Things started going downhill by the fifteenth to the twentieth episode and it was just me trying hard to get through the first season. There were moments I really wanted to quit watching and hoped it would get better than it never did.

I think they could of kept this one season, I am not sure if the are plans to have one and that's because I'm truly not interested in it.

First half is cringe, the rest is just non-sense bs

Well, honestly there's not much to say. The main characters are supposed to somehow decide who is gonna be the successor of the current god, by whatever means they decide. In the first half, there's a guy who wants to kill everybody, and the protagonist, of course, doesn't want to kill anybody, telling everybody he just wants to be happy (preferably dating the girl he likes). He gets confronted with his values over and over, until at some point, he ends up helping to kill a person. From this point onwards, the history drags itself by creating confusion and promising there is gonna be a logical closure, and guess what, it never happens. Unless you are willing to put yourself through a torture session, I don't recommend, it's a total waste of time.

Something awesome we excpected from death note creators

Death note Creators really stood up onto the expectation, they started all the mind games in that grippy 4th episode and the bgm and opening is just bomb.com, I really hope they would set the show on fire in the upcoming episodes.

Idk why people are hating this anime

Idk why people are hating this anime , and I have seen most of comments and revive and most of them are complaining because the MC Was a coward .... But I just wanna tell that MC is not a coward he is just depressed and trying to move on ...... And most of the people are also saying that the pacing is too slow and this anime has crowd of character .... People like this can never like one piece and if these 2 points makes any anime bad in revives the. Why the hell one piece is so famose ........ And I ust also hate that people are disapointed that anime is written by same writer of death note then go and watched death note 1 millon times 😑

Riveting Start with a Gripping Villain and Moral Depth, but Falters Pre-Climax

"Platinum End" delivers a gripping narrative woven with supernatural elements and psychological depth. The series, maintains a compelling blend of suspense and thought-provoking themes. The exploration of human desires, morality, and the consequences of wielding extraordinary powers adds complexity to the storyline. "Platinum End" excels in introducing a compelling first villain, captivating hero development, and thought-provoking moral quandaries. The initial antagonist creates a gripping dynamic, and the hero's journey is engaging, providing viewers with a strong central character. However, the series encounters challenges post the demise of the first major villain. Some viewers may find the episodes that follow lacking in intensity or direction, potentially affecting the overall pacing. Additionally, the climax might not meet the expectations set by the earlier parts of the series, leaving some room for improvement in the resolution of the storyline. Despite these concerns, "Platinum End" remains a thought-provoking experience for those interested in moral dilemmas and supernatural narratives.

Too edgy 4 me

I like the last 2 collaborations of the Jump "dream team" as much as the next guy but Nr 3 falls apart hard after about 2 volumes. I quit the manga after what ended up becoming the start of act 2 but returned for the last volume. It is one of the worst endings I ever saw. Offensively bad but there is no way to talk about it without spoilers. The female lead also is the worst one yet so have fun with her. I wonder why Tsugumi Ohba has proven incapable of writing women. The assigned studio lastly sucks the 14 volume manga will be speed though in only 24 eps, maybe a blessing in disguise, so prepare for one of the most hated "high profile" anime in quite some time after the story gets going for real. The seemingly aborted Death Note by Netflix is better. Lol.

It's funny to see the anime getting a lukewarm reception right out of the gate. The adaptation is of course rushed AF, cobbled together and somewhat ugly but manga´s opening stretch is the "good" part. You all wait till this unintentional Death Note parody goes full Go Nagai. Not that I will stick this out but the last 2 or so episodes will receive very loud and open hatred. Can we get an Akumetsu anime instead? If anything try the manga but don´t. A 4/10 at first, a 3/10 by the end.

More depth than people let on

If people think this is drawn out, I can't believe they liked anything past episode 26 of death note. Plus, there's way more character development than death note. I'm done comparing it to death note though, I just wanted people to have a frame of reference. This anime is emotional and deep for anyone that's considered suicide. More so, this anime is about hope. It isn't completely mushy though, it has action and an actual fight for that hope - all while characters strive to maintain their self and moral compass (which can be a real struggle during a fight to the death). I highly recommend this anime for anyone that's hit a really dark moment in their life.

Interesting

The first episode does it job and gets the viewers attention. The concept makes you curious and waiting for more. First 2 episodes were interesting to say the least, hopefully it lives up to its expectations!

Mishap of Future Diary + Death Note

Platinum End started decently, with good concept, somewhat similar to Future Diary + Death Note. The first half was interesting and was built well. Although everything started getting worse in the second half of the series.

First of all, the animation seemed a bit inconsistent and there was nothing much left to explore post 14th episode, which saw the end of Metropoliman. Then, the rest of the episodes were just forcibly made into a shallow story, using god reference a way too much, without thickening the plot to an ending whatsoever. If made into 12-13 episodes, it would have been decent end, and the criticism wouldn't have been so harsh.

Platinum End is an example of how not to extend an anime unnecessarily, beyond it's capability to hold a story, that in turn take a worst hit towards itself and becomes a hollow show, that drags itself too much without realising that there's no worth left of it till it reaches towards the end.

My Rating : 4/10.

Perfect Anime from Death note creator's

I really liked the artwork and animation they are too good and BGM also quite impressive but, we can't judge whole anime by watching 2 episodes waiting for upcoming episodes, first 2 episodes are really great must watch.

Invested in the story and became too depressive by the end

Not gonna lie, I liked it at first, but then by the last couple episodes it became waaay too depressive and could be quite triggering to some people. I really didn't like it by the end it was very disturbing even that I am not religiious, but the whole concept.

I really like it

The story is good though very dark. There is quite bit of nudity but I think it is over shadowed by the quality of the series. The characters are interesting and have layers. The main character has a no kill rule and some other people are calling him a coward, but I think it is refreshing to see a character steadfast in their morals.

Frustratingly flat :l

It was advertised like Mirai Nikki, but tried to act like that and a weird blend of Sonny Boy or the Tatami Galaxy. I adore existential and philosophical media, but the execution on this was really poor.

The entire metropoliman part felt like a mismatched skin graft onto what was trying to be deep and profound, but ended up being far too rushed to feel fitting.

The animation style and character designs were solid - enough for me to get hooked in at the beginning, and if you don't mind watching 24 episodes of pointlessness for pretty pictures, then I give my firm recommendation to give it a go.

If the latter half of the show slid to the start, and elaboration on the final two episodes happened, I'm sure it would have been great! But that isn't how it was, and therefore it was, indeed, not great :/

The characters felt like cardboard, but I think that was more due to pacing issues rather than anything else. This anime is mostly just exasperating, because if the creators had shifted it slightly to the left, it could have been amazing.

I literally made this account to do this review, please if you want an actual philosophical and meaningful anime, take a look at the Tatami Galaxy or Sonny Boy, and if you want action then stick to the popular stuff.

Really?

Generally a unique storyline in its own right, which kinda reminded me of Death Note in a "small" way. The 1st half of the season was interesting and good that will keep you in suspense. Unfortunately, the 2nd half of the season went downhill, especially the ending, which I can describe as Pathetic and overall a waste of time. 1 star...

Meaningless and baseless

I don't at all understand this anime, it's purpose to air nd brought to humans view. If it was just an entertainment show, I would have tried feeling " Ya ok whatever" But it took life death angels nd God everything showed like they r useless nd worthless at end. The very first and probably last show I will find that has shown GOD as pointless, his role as useless, his very own existence was presented like he came from something he himself doesn't know. I hate this fact. God nd angels r shown like brainless and the ones who depends on HUMANS to tell them what there purpose is to b on throne of God. I hate the thing when this anime said " God is created by humans" That God can kill himself cause he doesn't know what to do. Man it's fkd up anime, bulshit. Even the characters r dull nd always upset which makes viewers upset that it's justt depression to watch tilll end. Max of the people who watch animes r teens. Same teens whoz brain is in the process of development towards life, right wrong etc etc,. Don't watch this pointless anime plz . It's just time waste nd no good ( evenn in ur imagination nd fantasy) will come from it. If only the ending had responsible finale like God and angels lived for improving humans life, guide them, instead they self destruct which is worst than human themselves. Nothing iis gained for anyy character in this anime. Live struggling, kill or b killed, then at end even after ur death, everything vanish. Like totally no gain in living nd after dying. They came from dust, they vanish in dust, boom!!!. Overalll even for entertainment, (my opinion as equal right to express our minds)I wish I give this animme zero.

I thought it was really good until....

At the 7 minute mark on the second episode there is an insane amount of nudity and honestly the story is kinda depressing and the concept is kind of offensive.

10/10 Great so far!

I don't know why this show has such a low rating. It's animated beautifully with, in my opinion, an awesome plot that has similar religious symbolism to Death Note. On the first episode I was hooked! Guess you can't please everybody.

Great Show With 1 Flaw

The show is very interesting from the outset, with a interesting premise. 12 suicidal people compete to see who will become god. The first major arc of the show is ok. The plot is a 7/10, but what really drags it down is the pacing. What could have been done in 6-10 episodes took 15. This is probably because the show had to last 24 episodes and they wanted to make the second half great, which they did. When the second half of the show starts there is no longer a major pacing issue, and the plot jumps to a 9/10. But what really drives the show over the edge to make it on average a 9/10 is the ending. I am not going to spoil anything, but this is either the best or the second best ending I have seen next to Code Geass.

It has interesting ideas

First off some people say this anime is too dark and edgy. The edgiest episode is the first episode in my opinion which was something i was a bit disappointed by. I watched this around halloween and i wanted something that was dark and edgy. The first episode had a lot of dark moments but after the 1st episode it never really went back to that, at least not in the same way the first episode did, which felt like false advertising to me.

There was a good deal of time given the romance between the male and female lead of the show which was alright but what i really liked about the show was the different ideas it had. Like how their powers give them red arrows which work kinda like how cupids arrows does making the target fall in love with its user. There are a lot of interesting ways the show uses this idea such as allies and teammates using the red arrow on eachother to ensure trust in one another.

I ended up really liking the show because it just seems unique. There arent a whole lot of animes that i can say that feels like this one. Its underrated in my opinion i give it a 8.
