By watching this movie, I remember my grandfather. He was a heavy smoker and he always smoked until he got his first grandson. After my brother was born, he stopped smoking. That is why I have never seen his smoking. My father was kind and he loved us very much. We also really love him, I was looking forward to seeing him. When I was 12 years old, he died because of stomach cancer. I have no image that my grandfather smokes but I imagine if I were in this movie's situation. My grandfather was in a hospital, I always thought "What can I do for him?" "What does he hope?" "I want to do everything he wants," because I really loved him. I wanted to make him smile. The girl I this movie also loves her father. She knows that cigarettes are not good for his health but she wants to do everything he wants, as I was so before. I can feel nostalgia, sadness and warmth by this movie.
The film describes a family through cigarettes. The scene which a little girl buys a cigarette makes a surprising impression on your mind, but once you know why she tries to buy a cigarette, you may cheer up. Her mother tells her not to buy cigarette anymore and the girl knows that cigarettes have a bad influence on people, but she goes to buy a cigarette involuntarily. She is kind and supportive. We can learn that kindness and unnecessary support sometimes go completely the opposite of what is intended. This is a Japanese short film. However, this teaches many things to us, I think. It won a prize and is worth watching.
A girl's father has a bad cough and is sick in bed because of his serious illness. However, he can't stop smoking. Therefore, he asks his little daughter to buy cigarettes.
This is a Japanese short movie. Each of the cast plays the role very naturally. Especially, I love the little girl's acting. She is very charming. I can sympathize with the scene, where the girl can't turn her father's down even though she knows that her father is telling her a lie. I believe she never wants father's death because of the cigarette. She will just want to believe her father because she loves her father with pure feelings.
This story shows me that everyone has the pure heart. I recommend this film because it is very moving that only the little girl can change her father and the family becomes happy at the end.

'The Errand' is a family story. It was produced in 2007. An elementary
school girl buys cigarettes for her father, but her mother is angry with her because smoking has a lot of negative effects. The girl goes to be with her father who is dying of an illness, presumably cancer. The father asks the girl to buy cigarettes for him. The story is about her going to buy cigarettes for her father. I found this short film very thought-provoking. The girl knows the negative effects of giving cigarettes to her father who is weak. However, I believe that the girl's desire to fulfill her beloved father's wish is very complicated. I also liked the child actor who represented this emotion well. I could understand her feelings through her natural acting. This is why I was drawn into this film. Also, the father looked really in pain and it was very vexing to watch. I thought this short film should be seen by anyone who has a family member who smokes and is in trouble. I thought it would inspire them to stop smoking.
This short movie creates the nostalgic atmosphere. In the opening scene, children talk cheerfully on their way home from school. It gives a calm impression. However, a girl buys a cigarette for her bedridden father, and her mother scolds her for it. Her mother says that a cigarette destroys his body. Probably, her father is suffering from an illness caused by cigarette. It is a serious scene. Her father asks her to give him a cigarette, but it makes him worse. She is worried in a conflict. I don't understand why her mother scolds her. I think her mother should scold her father. Also, I don't know why this story finishes so comfortably in spite of her father's serious sickness. I am terribly anxious that he might die. I feel pity for the admirable little girl.
