From the Pilot to the latest episodes to have been released from the second season, last at this point being 'Original Song', there have been some major plot changes and the storyline has gone drastically downhill. It used to be a very captivating show that left you drooling and gripping your remote waiting for the next Tuesday night just so you can see what happens next and how it will progress. Giving such life to Kurt, Puck, and other characters who weren't spotlighted on in the first season, it became something that you had to see to watch the underdog rise up. It was a truly inspiring underdog story. In such a short period of time and 45 episodes into the hit T.V. show they have turned it from captivating story to "when is it going to get good again?" They have killed any interesting characters in a metaphorical sense, and destroyed any plot that may have been and replaced it with something that looks like "what can we do to put in random sh*t that has nothing to do with anything just for the hell of it and screw any sort of good story?" I will hope to see something good happen by the end of Season 2 or hope that they just cancel the show altogether instead of watch it destroy itself and go completely under.
Why they continued past season 4 after Cory's death is beyond me. Seasons 1-3 are fun, and season 4 they tried to have a rebirth but failed in my eyes. To continue for 5 and 6 with terrible stories and new characters with short lived arcs was a waste.

Before the bashing begins I have to say that I watch this show every week without exception. First, I would like to say that I know this show is a big hit, but there's 2 main reasons that it's a hit. 1. The music- The voices and actor/singers that they have are incredible. 2. It's a brand new concept for TV. It hasn't been done and there are no other alternatives just yet. Besides the singing though, nearly every single aspect of it is a total joke. I literally can't imagine worse writing. OK, so I'm wondering who's job it is to "relate" to the audience. Nearly every episode mentions what's "cool" or not. Fin talks repeatedly about needing to be the QB on the football team to be cool and it comes up a lot. It's unreal. I cannot think of one time in HS that the actual word "cool" every came up. Popularity altogether doesn't come up. Even though it's on 90% of students minds, it's not talked about, ever. In fact, I can't think of anything less cool than talking about needing to be cool. It's ridiculous and makes me cringe each time they talk about it on the show(which is always). The next thing is Kurts gay issues and I ESPECIALLY hated an altercation Kurt's father had with Fin just after Fin moves into their house. Is the show saying that a gay mans constant advances are just to be accepted no matter what? Kurt should just be able to do whatever the hell he pleases because he is gay? This show uses touchy subjects that they know nobody will argue with and go way over the edge with them. Their gay story lines, especially with Kurt and Fin is unbearable and makes me want to throw the TV through a window. Basically we're all to believe that because Kurt is gay, Fin is supposed to go along with whatever he wants and be a total pushover. It's nauseating. The songs on this show are very good, sometimes awesome. That's all though. It's popular because it's a new concept, a relatively new show, and has great singing but once another comes along like it that makes any sort of sense at all, Glee will be squashed.
The writing, character development, plot, and featured songs were all superb in Season 1 and 2. After that, mainly the poor writing is what causes Glee to become a pitiful, sad shell of itself.

Each episode is a self-contained story that challenges characters to confront their prejudices and attitudes and come to a deeper understanding of issues and people that leads to resolution. But when one gets to the next episode, it's as if none of the experience, learning and relationship building in the prior episode ever took place. It's as if their memories were wiped out (a la "Men in Black") Why do the characters never learn and grow from episode to episode? Are they just dumb retarded people?
Actually, I think the answer is simple. Glee has one story. But it uses a different matrix of character relationships to tell the same story each week. And it tells each story with the backdrop of looming "regionals" (which seem to take place 12 months a year). And why does Glee tell this single repetitive story? Because it's not about the story; it's about selling the music. This isn't television. This is selling product. Buy the CD. Download the Music. How cynically FOX this is.

I miss this TV series sooooooooooo much, I wish there would be a series named "Glee 2.0" casted by same actors and actress!!!
Season 1 was amazing! Great characters, great comedy, great vibe. Season 2 was ok, but they lost the magic. By season 4 they just lost me, couldn't keep watching. Terrible!

Glee is the best worst show ever conceived. One week, you loved it. The next you questioned what kind of dumbass you are for getting sucked into this kind of s**t.
Let's start with the title. Glee. It's a show about releasing yourself. A show that has garnered recognition for being the gayest show on television. Any serious critic shutters to look at it with any self esteem. That right there is a problem with the show. It does look like what critics say. Yet I don't hate the show.
Right off the bat, most anything past the first season is historically awful. There is a self awareness through the whole show but what makes the early episodes stand out is that the characters struggled with teen problems yet we could always laugh at these situations. Finn is a dumbass, Rachel has an ego that needs to be stopped, Kurt is iconically gay, and Quinn struggles with teen pregnancy. All these situations are hard to deal with in real life but are so innocently depicted it makes them funny while not making us feel terrible for struggling with them. It's just a happy show.
The show dwindled into an obscure subject by the time the new characters were introduced. But I want to make the point that it wasn't entirely their fault. Sure a big chunk of it was but it was by no means the reason why nobody cares about the show anymore. People don't care because it doesn't stand for the same message.
The second year was when Glee rightfully deserved its reputation for being a sponsor for gays. I am no homophobe but the problem the show has with this is that it just depicts gays as being gay. Let's shove as many jokes as we can towards these characters as possible. The first season's mentality was to depict all these hefty struggles in an innocent way. The second year was more about a gay love story. By all means, there is nothing wrong with a gay love story I'm just making the point that the show was already straying from its original idea.
By the third year, these gay jokes just look pathetic. We're supposed to laugh at these jokes. Suddenly things aren't as innocent. We are treated to a joke in the third year based around a masculine female football coach. She's a little overweight so "naturally" they thought it would be funny if they had a character say, "I have a tent you can sleep in over at my house." This joke is intended to be funny. That's not innocent. We're supposed to be aware of the fact that some people are different. Then why is that joke played for laughs? Suddenly this show is now on par with the likes of the worst sitcoms imaginable.
A show that started out about these kids that uncomfortable with themselves are now shown doing well choreographed dance moves by the third with no explanation because the past episodes were built around telling something else.
The second year is when the writing went wrong. Not the fourth when the new characters were introduced. Not the third when the jokes just became ignorant. It was the second year when the focus changed. A show about different characters was now becoming the focus for shipping. Let's have characters break up and cheat on each other for no reason.
I give the show a half rating. The one half is based solely on that first season. Just avoid anything after it.

I remember when this first showed up and I was a fan. The music is top notch and they do have an appealing cast. The problem is inconsistent writing, including some implausible pregnancy storylines that are blatantly manipulative, and some choreographic and acting moments that are melodramatic in the extreme. I overlooked all that the first time and only lost interest in the third season when the show became preachy on issues instead of leaving them organic to the storylines and started hitting us over the head. It became increasingly unwatchable after that. But going back to rewatch on Netflix, I found the early episodes inconsistent and not really clicking til the 8th or 9th episode, and even then, I was not as into it as I used to be. Perhaps the first time the way it connected with my own glee club experiences was enough but somehow that doesn't carry me through the second time. It just didn't hold up. I think it was of its time but now, besides the music, it just doesn't do it for me.

I like this show, there's some parts in it that are so extremely iconic and catch you so off guard you laugh for so long and never stop thinking about it. The only thing that sucks is that the parts in between those ridiculously funny parts are kinda boring and are what made me drop the show the first time. The show started off so strong but started seriously sucking when all the original cast left near the end. The show has solid characters, amazing cast, and I had the soundtrack on my playlist for so long, so if you're looking for music it's there. I think the show should have stopped while it was still good cause it definitely lost some score points near the end.
This show left so much to be desired in terms of music. The entirety of it was auto tune, and as I progressed in the series I could not get over how much they had edited their voices. They didn't even sound human anymore. The characters were very cookie cutter and unoriginal, and while there is some comedy it just reminds me of a kids show. I'm not saying it's terrible. It does have some great lessons and one or two good characters. but that's pretty much it. I'd only recommend it if you were looking for something to watch on a lowkey basis, where you wouldn't have to focus much on minor details.

I love the songs and dancing and some of the story, but I can only watch a couple of episodes at a time because it just spews hatred. I can barely get past the kid bullies but Sue the cheerleader coach.... OMG. She's just too much to handle. I think the show would have been better without her character.

This show was ok. I fast forward through all of Rachel Barry's solos and anything her and Finn did. She annoys me and sounds the same on every song. All the other performers bring something different to each song even Kurt who also bores me when he sings unless he's putting on a show. This show was centered around Rachel and she just annoys me. Otherwise, it could have been better if she didn't annoy me so much.
Well, i started watching glee at the end of episode 13, i watched every episode within 2 days. It sucked me in. A funny story, that is not to be taken seriously mixed with many eccentric characters and to complete that: great retro songs played by great singers.
I was very excited for the second half of season 1, i still watch every episode but it's not the series highlight of my week. The plot became kind of boring, there are only few funny edges any more.
I have the feeling the writers are desperately trying to find a story which fits a pattern for one episode, that ruins the show. The show has lost it's light touch too fast. In addition to that, the songs are for my taste not that good anymore and are now too much mainstream and not like the older retro songs of the first half.
If this goes on like this, i don't think i'll be watching season 2.

In the beginning, I liked the series. Now, I'm waiting for them to STOP singing and dancing and show us some actual "story"!!
My review is too short?!
Ok, is it long enough now?
Now?
Now?
Now?
OK, then also less change of clothes for an average school!
