My assumption is that following season one, the folks who made "Leverage" weren't sure if it would be back for a second season. So, at the end of season one, the five members of the team go their separate ways. Here in the opener of season two, they get back together as apparently they are bored in their separate lives.
The show begins with a car going wildly out of control...nearly killing the driver and his daughter. The brakes and gas pedal aren't working and it's obvious someone has messed with the car trying to cause their deaths. Fortunately, Nathan witnesses the car crashing and saves them before the vehicle explodes. But, as he's rescuing them, the guy who looks like a hobo who witnessed the crash DOESN'T help but steals a briefcase out of the backseat and runs. Then, that evening, the same 'hobo' appears and tries to kill Nathan in his apartment. Clearly something is NOT Kosher here!! That non-Kosher element here turns out to be the Irish mob...a nasty group to say the least.
This is one of the better episodes of the series. Well written and intelligent...and a nice critique about the bank bailouts of the early 2000s.

Of course, they were going to get back together. Their world is too boring to stay away. The show starts with a man and his daughter traveling through busy Boston streets when their brakes fail and the accelerator sticks. The car flips and Ford rescues them before the car explode.
Ford has given up on the sauce and initially wants nothing to do with his old compadres. But the young girl grabs at his heart and he decides they should do one more heist.
Soon they are facing off against gangster and crooked bankers. It's a prototypical episode for this show. The beginning when they meed goes on way too long.

Nathan Ford: What, you thought she was dressed like a nun for no reason?
Eliot Spencer: It's Parker.
Nathan Ford: OK, fair enough.
