First R&M episode I legitimately didn't like

The reason why it was so bad for me is because it seems like something a couple of 13 year old R&M fans would write. Horse sex and monster sperm and incest and what not. It's not particularly creative, it's just trying hard to be obscene. It's like the writers forgot we watch R&M because it's clever, not just because it's gross.

Oh well, I suppose it's a feat to go over four seasons before making a bad episodes.

Where's the vision?

The Smith family has no purpose and no direction this season. Clearly, Dan doesn't either. Why not pick up on some of those abandoned plot threads from previous seasons?

Anyway, Episode 3. Morty is officially Flanderized. RIck, who should be the most interesting man in existence has become one-dimensional. The Smith family in general has become immune to real-world concerns.

There was a time when this family felt real - they had awkward dynamics with one another, they struggled, they felt emotional pain and they grew. Now they all feel like Rick's sidekicks. Beth and Jerry, once normal, caring parents, have resigned themselves to constantly putting themselves and their children in harm's way.

This season is a trainwreck so far, and this episode drags it down even further.

Empty humor

It was filled with low hanging jokes that felt empty and completely out of character. I didn't even think it was gross, it was just poorly written compared to every other Rick and Morty episode.

Why would Rick need bombs from the military to destroy the Grand Canyon? I hate this powerless Rick, I'd rather see his toxin version... at least he knew he is God and invented the toxic equivalent of electricity.

Honestly felt like they are trying to see how far they can push it

This seemed like a purposeful attempt to see how bizarre and awful they could make an episode and still have fans enjoy it. Mission failed.

Feels AI Generated

Like if they took all the scripts from previous seasons and AI generated an episode from those. I don't think people who worked on the show actually thought this was good so I'll give it a 7.

One of the worst...

I love this show, but this episode is complete garbage. What did the writers do? Let a bunch of middle schoolers write it so that they could get a few extra days of vacation? I have to believe that the voice actors were rolling their eyes at having to say some of these lines. Such a let down, especially with episode 3 being up there with probably one of the 10 best of the series.

The only cringeworthy RM episode. Terrible.

Great start, the first 5 min or so were funny but it went downhill really fast, like free falling down. Wtf happened? By far the worst episode of Rick and Morty.

Hope it's just a bump on what was a great season in the first 3 episodes and get back on track the following weeks.

Edit: Of course that just because the episode overall was bad doesn't mean some jokes didn't land. The Iron man joke was hilarious and the samurai mortal kombat guy death was too... it's not as bad as i thought at first but still pretty bad.

Y'all take this show too seriously

How about you have some fun for once? I think people are too hung up on the concept of Rick and Morty being a show for "intellectuals" when it's really not. Jesus, you people sound like that meme. Rick and Morty is a comedy show and it's supposed to he hilarious, weird, creative and satirical. Not every episode has to be a groundbreaking masterpiece. In this case "Rickdependence Day" does a great job at making you laugh and in some way even develops Mortys inner child to a more shameful degree. I had fun with this episode and people rating this 1/10 are just the most annoying and immature people on this god forsaken planet, chill out.

Worst episode since the Dragon one

From the unfunny sperm idea to the bad horse puns, this episode is a huuuge dissapointment. We didnt even get to see any original sci-fi weapons or concepts, it was just stupid potty humor. Hope the next episode makes up for whatever this is.

Tf happened?

It felt like the soul was sucked out of the show with this episode. I really hope that future season 5 episodes will be more like the first 3 and not this one.

Please stop these horny Morty episodes! Just Awful

There's a dialogue in this episode - "Let's turn this Grand Canyon intoa Can't-yon."

That reminded me of legendary Johnny Depp dialogue- "Are you Mexican or MexiCant"

Thanks for such great writing.

Calm down, prudes.

It's a raunchy, adult show. You all act like you've never seen Ren and Stimpy before. Was it one of the best? No. But it wasn't terrible. Still better then the dragon episode.

I don't care about what people say, I was ironically enjoying this episode

To be honest, as much as a mess this episode was, I was really enjoying it. Every single thing from this episode is just so weird and surreal that is just so funny to watch.

Basically, the reason I was enjoying this episode is the same reason people hate it.

A rare miss for Rick & Morty

I love Rick & Morty dearly, but this one is a rare miss for Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. The writing and dialog just felt phoned-in, lacking most of the characteristic, clever wit the show is famous for. It almost felt like a different writer penned this one. The crafstmanshup just wasn't quite there.

Spunky Brewster

I've found myself at odds with the fanbase before, though usually it's not liking episodes as much as the majority. Here it's the opposite though, with an episode that found to be probably the best of the fifth season so far, (certainly the best balanced) but one which generally wasn't enjoyed.

Rick (Justin Roiland) experiments on a vat of Horse semen, looking for a way to finally end our war with the underground horse people. Unbeknownst to him, Morty (Justin Roiland) has been making "use" of the extraction device and his human DNA causes the unforeseen consequence of creating giant sperm creatures. With human now at war on two fronts, the President (Keith David) turns to Rick for a solution.

I mean, the biggest criticism I had of the episode was that it wasn't super original. Again, the Earth is devastated as a result of one of Rick's experiments going awry which is something we've seen plenty of times before. Again, Rick's love life proves a factor in resolving the story. I criticised episodes earlier this season for being cleverly plotted but lacking laughs (Mortyplicity) or a straight comedy without the plot (A Rickconvenient Mort), the was, for me the episode that struck the balance between the two best. Laugh out loud lines "What are you, a scorpion in a Navajo fable" and a plot that whilst often coming out of nowhere in terms of the overall established storylines of the show, made sense within itself.

I can understand not liking an episode, that's fine, but the idea that this episode tonally is wildly different to episode that came before need to go and watch the season one episode "Raising Gazorpazorp"

Not that bad

Oh my God... After I finished episode 5 I came here and saw that I forgot to rate it. And what do I see? 5.7!? Probably the lowest rated episode of the show.

I agree the episode is a total mess. But in a good way. There are no WTF moments, but one huge WTF episode.

It was a lot of fun watching it especially after previous, dramatic one. And yeah, some might find it gross, but Rick and Morty has several gross episodes, so what? I didn't find it gross anyway.

Do I think it is as good as other episodes? Not really. It is a WTF episode, where outlandish things happen constantly, I didn't liked that.

There are funnier episodes. And you don't have to make the episode based entirely on sex. But it was still good.

Have a sense of humour

The hell am I missing here, this episode was hilarious, are these reviews serious?

After the Planetina episode which I found kind of boring, this episode is classic Rick and Morty-straightforward weirdness packed with one-liners, what's the problem here?

You can't make sperm jokes funny? The gross-out takes a backstage to it just being a weird monster episode, most of the humour is dialogue-based.

Just a fun episode for me, simple as.
