Incomprehensible

The first episode of season 4 is incomprehensible. Hopefully, further episodes (if I bother to watch them) will clarify things. Seasons 1 and 2 were, I thought, excellent. Season 3 was not as good but still okay.

Another problem is that much of the action that there is is so dark you cannot tell what is going on. This seems to be a thing as other shows I have watched have had the same problem. Is this an example of cutting costs or just poor editing?

I also don't understand why Prime announced before Season 4 even aired that it was the last? Don't they wait for ratings anymore? Or had Prime executives watched Season 4 and decided it was a flop?

Nice start

I'm bummed that this is the final season of Jack Ryan. This episode really set the stage for what is going to go down and I'm hanging in there with every scene. I'm already seeing where this is going but how events are going to unfold I'm at a loss to see.

In the new times of shows like this being a shoot ''em up constant action, it's refreshing to have a drama like this play out. Amazon needs to be applauded for putting forth the money and resources for putting this series together. I'll probably watch these first two episodes and when the remainder are aired binge them all together.

It was great that Domingo Chavez was brought back, IF he is the same Chavez from Clear and Present Danger who snuck up on everyone.

Yea, it'll be sad when the last episode airs.

Get ready for thrill and action!

Within the first ten minutes, the audience is introduced to four geographical locations across three continents. The story is being setup for a huge premise, and thrill. Jack Ryan, Wright, and Greer return along with many new characters. The episode has been written crisply. By the end of the episode, the audience would have clarity about all the stakeholders the writers intended to. The connections are clearly established. It is a testimony that the episode has been well-written because you won't feel overwhelmed with the characters. Amazon Prime has spent lot of money on this last season, and this episode setup a nice foundation for the next episodes to come. I am excited!

Yikes! That happened to this show?

We really liked the first seasons. This new season is thin and like a slice of Swiss cheese. Simple dialogue. Jumping ahead in time where things are done or fixed without us seeing it. The direction is awful. The acting is okay depending on who you are talking about. Many seem to be just reading their lines. What a big disappointment. We tried to watch the second episode of this season and it was unbearable. What changed? Why are the actors so lazy and non-caring in playing their roles. We know they can do better than this. What a shame. There is not much to watch with any level of excellence these days, but we at least thought this was fun in the past. No longer.

We Fell Asleep!

My husband and I enjoyed the first two season of Jack Ryan, but then it started going downhill. Season 4 is by far the worst season yet, as the direction is poor, the acting is bland, the plots are cliche, and there is no character development in the writing. Sadly, it hasn't hooked us after 2 episodes, as it did in the past. In fact, my husband and I have fallen asleep on both episode one and two. If the actors and characters don't seem to care, why should we?

Note: We were hoping after Season 2 they would go to Russia as planned, but couldn't due to Covid and the Ukraine war. That is not their fault, but I think the writers and producers lost interest at that point. 😔

A participation award would be too kind

The first episode was a complete mess if it was supposed to set up the next five episodes it missed by a mile. This would be a one star if it wasn't for John Kaczynski who I think is one of the best Jack Ryan portrayals in the Tom Clancy film history. I was a big fan of season one I thought season two went off the rails I didn't understand how they just had Kathy disappear, so many plot holes, poor twists, bad casting. The last season was excellent from a plotting standpoint there were some holes but overall I thought it ended strongly. But if the first episode is any indicator for how this story arc is going to proceed I'm very concerned for season 4.. Conceptually I love the idea of trying to clean up the CIA but we all know that's impossible. I like that Greer is back in the overall Cast is actually pretty strong it's just some of the performances are lacking and Michael Peña as Ding Chavez is pretty embarrassing. His performance is so flat and listless I can't believe anybody's mentioning a spin off series for him he just phoned this thing in or he just doesn't have the chops. Michael Pena does not exude CIA top assassin he's much more likely fitted for a New York City cop at a Dunkin' Donuts. After starting the second episode I almost think you can flush the first episode down the toilet and not miss a thing.

Really hard to understand

So many events happening at the same time, that makes all of them incomprehensible. I don't know what the cartel wants, who the "bad guy" is, what's the threat to the US, nothing. All we know is that a Nigerian president got killed, CIA ops are being covered and censored, a bunch of drug traffickers are competing with each other and politicians are politicians. That is pretty much every other common information you get from opening the news.

Hopefully the next episodes explain things, or are at least more watchable, because the quality plummeted when compared to the season 3 (a great one in my opinion).
