This show gets better and better every week. The character development is phenomenal and it's not afraid to shake things up week after week. Lydia (Regina King) is one of the best characters on TV, strong but caring, and very smart. Even the REALLY irritating characters (Tammi Bryant played by Emily Bergl) are very well written and keep you wanting more. John Cooper and Ben Sherman are a great team, I love the stories that these two characters share on a weekly basis. THANK YOU TNT for doing what NBC wasn't smart enough to do and keep this show on the air. I am amazed that this show doesn't get more viewers on a weekly basis, people do not know what they are missing every week. This show blows all the other drama's out of the water. I hope it lasts for 20 seasons.

This show's no stranger to intense scenes - usually of the violent sort - but "Code 4" is a real gut-punch. From its very opening shot - a bruised and exhausted Sammy, a bloodcurdling cry of anguish down the hospital hallway - you know it's going to be rough. You just don't expect the knuckles to actually go white. It's been a few years since I first watched this, and the memory of having to catch my breath is vivid.
It's a fine episode throughout, with Sammy and Ben (in different situations) losing sight of what's important. One's distracted by a loopy wife and the other's full of himself. It's a day full of hard lessons when you take your eye off the ball in this business. The cases are interesting, the performances are solid, and everything proceeds as top-shelf "Southland" . . . before you're blind-sided by that ending.

I've watched the entire series several times but only watched this episode once. I cannot watch it again. I just skip over it. Once was enough. Not gonna give it up.
