Super Street Fighter IV

1 review
7/10

Ken you kick it?

'Super Street Fighter IV (2010)' is an extension of the regular version of the game, featuring a few extra characters and some gameplay tweaks. It's, essentially, a better version of 'Street Fighter IV (2008)', although 'Ultra Street Fighter IV (2014)' improved upon it again. This is the most up-to-date version of the game I've played, so I'll review this instead of the original or the follow-up. It's a 2.5D arcade-style fighting game that's easy to pick up but difficult to master, with special moves and combos being tied to a mixture of face buttons and directional inputs. To be honest, a lot of its more interesting features (such as ultra moves) are quite difficult to pull off. However, the basic fighting is satisfying enough. It's snappy and exciting, colourfully brought to life with anime-inspired visuals and animations. Its cast is eclectic and, for the most part, distinct, with each fighter feeling unique and well-conceived. As well as basic one-on-one fights, the game offers up a selection of arcade ladders and online modes. The whole thing has an energetic vibe to it. It's a fun experience, especially with a friend. 7/10
