This film is just GARBAGE! I once thought Magic Railroad was the worst but no. This is the worst. Everyone make stupid decisions and EVERYONE rhymes at some point in the special. The only things I like about the special are the intro theme and the end song. That is it. I can't stand this film. It was just a cash-grab to try and expand the island. It is awful! I just scream at this all the time. STH is stupid and the logging locos are the most likeable characters in this film. And I hate them. A LOT of work needed to be done to fix this mess of a film because it is so grating to watch. It hurts my brain!
Repetitive Dialogue: The phrase "That's right!" (often said by Ferdinand) is overused and can become annoying.
Pacing Issues: The story sometimes drags, and the problem-solving moments feel forced.
Lack of Logic: Some elements, like the "Shake Shake Bridge," seem unrealistic even for a children's movie. Everyone is stupid and unlikable.
Sir Topham Hatt is very dumb and Thomas is awful selfish, doesn't follow the railway right at all.
The absolute bottom of the barrel for T&F francise. The worst one of them all. If you're a fan of Thomas & Friends, it's not worth it to watch. You betterr go watch Season 17-21 era.

Thomas & Friends: Misty Island Rescue is over all a solid good movie but it's also one of the best movies ever made because even though the movie has some problems I can't help but love this movie not just because of that but also because of what I thought of it as a kid. This movies soundtrack is so great and fun to listen to. The characters in this movie are really likeable and unlike that travesty movie known as Thomas and the Magic Railroad the characters in this movie are actually likeable and are not stupid. The animation for this movie holds up quite well since this movie came out in 2010 about 14 years ago. 10/10.
Goodies: The Idea Of Thomas Getting Lost On An Island Is Interesting
The Opening Credits Are Awesome
The Camera And Harold Both Flying Towards Thomas And Topham Are Cool
The Seriousness At The Scene Where Thomas And The Logging Locos Are Stuck In The Tunnel Is Amazing
The Score By Robert Hartshorne Is Still 👍
The After Credits Scene With Diesel 10
Baddies: Everything Else In This Film, Especially Thomas, Who Is Infamously Known For Saying Something Racist To Diesel "No Diesel, I'm sure The Fat Controller/Sir Topham Hatt means a really useful steamie! You'll never be that!"
My Rate: Bad.

My son just loves Thomas & Friends. He collects the trains and has watched a number of the original series. This was our first foray into the newer Thomas adventures, and I thought it was well done and kept much of the original flavor and ideals.
Animation (versus the original's use of real-life models) has both pluses and minuses. On the plus is the allowance for greater flexibility in camera shots, more animation of the figures themselves and a wider allowance for possible story lines. On the negative, there will always be something magical about real-world objects when done as well as the original series was.
As for this particular outing, it involves a mysterious island, colorful new characters and adventure as always. The narration is well done, as are the character voices (one major difference with the originals, which are all voiced by the same narrator). The scariest moment being a near "deadly" plunge off the train tracks to the cliffs below.
Nothing too frightening, good values (usefulness, obedience, friendship, etc) and charming visuals should appeal to younger children. It's also nice to have storytelling without frenetic action... a good choice for parents.

- TriviaThis was the first Thomas & Friends special/movie to be released on Blu-Ray. This was followed by Day of the Diesels (2011), Blue Mountain Mystery (2012), King of the Railway (2013), Tale of The Brave (2014), Sodor's Legend of The Lost Treasure (2015), The Great Race (2016), and the 2020 release of Thomas and the Magic Railroad (2000).
- GoofsWhen Thomas is breaking free from the freighter on his raft the running lights on the ship are reversed. A red light should be visible from the left/port wing and a green one from the right/starboard, not the other way round.
- Crazy creditsSpoiler Alert: After the end credits, we see Diesel 10 from Thomas and the Magic Railroad make an appearance.
