    Tacky parts

Joke about fat cop and donuts - absolutely unkind to his condition and his job. Booth usually always charming funny and intelligent can now add ass.

Bones comes off more narcissistic than always - too much to handle in this episode.

Cam cheating to get her kid in school - horrible. Glad it was corrected. Sweets saves this episode with wisdom and integrity.

    Getting Your Feet Wet

When detached feet are found right at the border between Canada and the US, a Canadian scientist who has been vilified by Brennan shows up at the scene. She uses her usual intimidation thing without thinking and he is forced to work on his own. He turns out be as Nerdy as Brennan and quite entertaining. The feet came from a body farm and were washed away in a flood--all except one, which indicated murder. So, enter a pair of very expensive athletic shoes, an angry roommate, and the web starts to form. The key subplot is Cam's writing an application and an essay to Columbia and her being accepted (not the daughter, of course. Cam). Sweets is the hero in this one.

They couldn't come with something better than...

"Bones" is an entertaining and smartly written TV series with an outstanding cast. I was, however, disappointed with Season 6, Episode 17. The series is usually very progressive in so many ways, but couldn't they have found a real drug to use for this episode? To pass marijuana off as some treacherous drug was laughable. Oxycodone would have been a more legitimate drug to vilify. There are more potentially harmful side effects from acetaminophen abuse than there is from marijuana use or abuse. I really enjoy this show and I will definitely keep watching it, but I was surprised that the writers chose something as trivial as marijuana. If they had to imply some moral judgment they could have just said that adults have the right to eat, drink, and smoke what they want as long as it doesn't affect the safety or well-being of others.

    • Trivia
A number of "body farms" where cadavers are subject to various decomposition scenarios for research do exist in the United States. As of 2011, there are four universities with operating body farms: the University of Tennessee at Knoxville; Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC; Texas State University-San Marcos; and Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX. A fifth facility is being created at California University of Pennsylvania in California, PA. The body farm near the St. Regis River in New York as well as the nearby University of Hogansburg are both fictional.
    • Goofs
At about 23:55, Hodgins is telling Dr. Filmore that he found Cannabis Sativa pollen associated with the victim's feet.

There are multiple things wrong with this because growing Cannabis, the males are killed as soon as identified and generally, Cannabis is grown from female clones rather than seed in order to eliminate the possibility of a male to fertilize (and nearly ruin) the female flowers.

The graphic that he pulls up from the electron microscope shows what appears to be the resin glands that the female Cannabis produces. These resin glands are visible with a magnifying glass and no special equipment would need to be used to see them beyond that.

The body farm, located in the northeast US, does not have a long enough spring/summer/fall season for Cannabis Sativa. Sativa will begin flowering when the daylight reaches just below 12 hours per day. Cannabis Indica will flower after the daylight reaches around 10 hours per day and would be the preferred species to grow in the northern US.

Special Agent Seeley Booth: But come on, Bones. He's hurting, all right? Whether you're right or wrong, you levelled the guy.

Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: He's a grown man.

Special Agent Seeley Booth: Sometimes that makes it hurt more. What makes us human, Bones, is we feel compassion and regret.

Dr. Temperance 'Bones' Brennan: Why is this so important to you, Booth?

Special Agent Seeley Booth: Because I know the kind of person you are. And I think you should let others in on the secret too.
